Chapter 420 Leave Me Alone
“That’s not what I meant.” Lysander tried to explain.
“Who were you trying to impress with that fearless, ready–to–sacrifice–yourself act you just pulled?”
“I’m sorry.”
Josiah chuckled. “Lysander, if you don’t love me, then just leave me alone. Like you said, let’s act likestrangers. I won’t bother you anymore, and we’ll both go our separate ways.”
They parted on bad terms.
On her way back, Lysander sat in the taxi, exhausted like never before.
Josiah used her own words against her, silencing her. Although he may have said that out of spite, hiswords still made sense.
She was the one who said they should become strangers, and now, she was also the one who took theinitiative to seek him out.
Closing her eyes in thought, she called Michelle.
As soon as the call connected, Michelle spoke in a somewhat anxious tone. “Lysander, Mom took abus back to her hometown this morning!”
Lysander rubbed her temples, irritated. “Didn’t I ask you to talk to her?
“I tried to, but Dad and Mom didn’t want to burden you. They decided to gather some money on theirown, borrowing as much as they could.”
“All right, I understand.” Lysander then asked, “Has Zachary contacted you?”
“How did you know I just got off the phone with him?”
Lysander grew anxious. “What did he say to you?”
“Don’t worry, it’s not about the part–time job. He said he’s recently on his annual leave and has somefree time. Coincidentally, a new ski resort just opened in the outskirts. He asked me if I wanted to goskiing.”
“And you….
Michelle replied, “I turned him down. I’m aware that we’re going through a tough time at home recently.How could I possibly go out and have fun when you, Mom, and Dad are all working hard to solve thecrisis? I declined his invitation, and, he’s very understanding. He even invited me and Dad to havedinner at his place tonight. “Saving for a house isn’t as simple as skipping a meal. It’s not like we’ll save a lot by skimping on onemeal. I’ll probably be home in about twenty minutes. Wait for me by the entrance”

Lysander spoke to the driver, then beckoned her father and sister to get in the car.
Maverick was a bit puzzled. “Lysa, why are we suddenly dining out? Epean cuisine is rather expensive.We should be more frugal lately. Camila and Zach just called us over for dinner.”
Lysander smiled and reassured, “Zachary has been too busy to spend time with Mdm. Camila lately.Let’s allow them some mother–son bonding time.”
“You’re right. Zach has indeed been swamped with work recently. He hasn’t been home a lot. Camilareally missed her son.” Maverick nodded.
“Yeah, so let’s not interrupt their mother–son quality time,” said Lysander.
Her reason successfully persuaded Maverick.,
Naturally, Michelle didn’t have any objections. Ever since that night at Skywatch, she had learned herlesson and was now behaving quite obediently.
“Where are we going to eat?” she asked.
Lysander wasn’t particularly fond of Epean cuisine. She had searched for a few restaurants on apopular review site, but none of them really caught her eye.
In this regard, Daphne was quite the expert.
She sent Daphne screenshots of a few restaurants, asking her to pick one.
Not long after she sent the message, Daphne’s call came through. “Lysander, I’m back.”
Lysander was surprised, and Daphne’s voice sounded downcast.
She was filled with worry. “What’s going on? Old Mrs. Everhart…”
“Grandma’s doing fine. My dad is there with her. I came back on my own.”
“Daphne, are you all right?”
“I’m doing okay, but…” Daphne sniffled and chuckled bitterly. “You might have to provitle for me in thefuture.”

Daphne sighed. “I hadn’t been involved in the family business before this and only heard about somedetails from my father recently while taking care of my grandma. Actually, our family business has beenfalling behind since five years ago. The only reason Riveron Corporation still partners with us isbecause Guerra Group specifically requests construction materials from my father’s company. RiveronCorporation wants to build a connection with the Guerra family, so they have no choice but to turn tomy father. Daphne sighed. She had always been a carefree person, taking everything lightly aside from theincident

But no
one could ever sever familial ties.
Lysander understood Daphne’s mixed feelings, but Josiah had made things very clear with her at thiscritical juncture.
I could ask for his help, but I’ll have to give him something in return. He doesn’t want a one–nightstand. Unless I agree to give him a serious relationship, he will not help. But how am I supposed tocontrol my feelings when it comes to matters of the heart?
Lysander felt an impending headache.
In the end, she chose a highly–rated Epean restaura and treated her father and sister to a meal there.

Maverick had a typical Eeron palate, so many Epean dishes were not to his liking. Lysander orderedhim a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, which suited his taste preferences better.
Michelle, on the other hand, ordered some dishes she had seen on television–steak, baked escargot,and apple pie. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal.
After finishing their meal and returning home, Lysander repeatedly cautioned Maverick and Michelleagainst getting involved with Zachary lately, and ideally, to avoid interaction altogether.
Maverick was somewhat dubious, but he didn’t care much since he had been focusing on raisingmoney lately. Lysander gave him a perfimctory explanation, and he dropped the matter.
The following morning, Lysander went to meet Dapline.
