Chapter 408 A Favor

Daphne had been best friends with Lysander for two decades. Thus, upon hearing those words,Daphne actually found herself calming down.

The look in Priscilla’s eyes flickered as she said, “Actually, this isn’t too bad.”

Lysander smiled, and Priscilla bashfully stuck out her tongue. “I’m just talking nonsense, Lysander.”

“No, you’re right,” affirmed Lysander.

Daphne stroked her chin, lost in thought for a moment. “Lysander, has Josiah really given up pursuingyou for so long?”

after

Lysander gazed at the distant silhouette of a man and a woman standing side by side and noddedslightly. “From the looks of it, it should be.”

“You’ve been ruthless with your words before, so why did he suddenly give up this time?”

Actually, Lysander hadn’t completely figured out why that was.

However, it didn’t really matter to her. Men and women were entirely different creatures, and shecouldn’t be bothered to delve into his mental processes any further.

However, what Priscilla said was indeed quite true and Lysander thought perhaps that ending was forthe

best.

too well.

From the moment she resolved to terminate her pregnancy, she understood it all too

The outcome of her relationship with Josiah had already been determined.

As for who Josiah ended up with afterward, that was no longer something she needed to worry about.

From Josiah’s perspective, the past was unchangeable, and his childhood friend had already turnedback. His choice to be with Lysanne was simply a natural human response.

Daphne patted Lysander on the shoulder. “Would you like to come over for dinner at my place tonight? My dad heard you’re back, and he’d like to meet you.”

“He wants to meet me?” asked Lysander.

“Yes.”

“Is it because of that matter with Harry?”

Daphne pouted. “Perhaps my father still feels guilty toward you.”

Lysander shook her head. “It’s not that I don’t want to go. Michelle is coming home tonight, and I’vealready promised to spend time with her.”

“No worries. Why don’t you bring your family along? Your parents know me anyway. Consider it as awelcome home party for you.”

After some thought, Lysander called her family.

In the afternoon, when Howard came to take over the shift, Lysander had a word with him.

There was a hint of envy in Howard’s eyes, but his words were somewhat humble. “That’s good. Sinceyou’re back from Stounia, you should spend more time with them. This meal sounds lovely. Once yourmother’s health improves, we’ll host a welcome home party for you, too. Daphine, you and your fathermust come when the time comes as well.”

Daphne was unsure about Lysander’s stance toward her biological parentt, so she could only respondwith a noncommittal smile, “Sure, we’ll see if we have the time, and if we do, we’ll definitely go

Daphne was behind the wheel, driving home with Lysander. They picked up Maverick and Laura, alongwith Michelle, who had just returned from university.

Michelle had tanned significantly and lost some weight as well, yet her eyes remained sparklinglybright.

Glancing at Michelle through the rearview mirror, Lysander chuckled lightly. “So, how’s life as auniversity

student?”

Michelle pouted. “It’s okay. Just so–so. Zachary said that once I’m in university, things will get easier, yet I feel even more exhausted than when I was in high school.”

Lysander asked, “Has Zachary contacted you recently?”

“He did, but not frequently, as his job seemed to keep him quite busy.”

“All right.”

“By the way, Zachary was asking about you.”

“About what?”

“It was just the usual stuff, you know. He asked how you’ve been lately, if you’ve been busy with work. Imentioned that you went to Stounia, and he seemed quite surprised.”

“Is there anything else?”

“Nope.”

not

Lysander nodded. “Zachary is busy with work right now. To disturb him too much.”

“I know, I know, I never initiated contact with him. It was always him who chatted with me on WhatsAppwhenever he had some free time.”

Lysander breathed a small sigh of relief.

Michelle was a naive girl, lacking Zachary’s cunning. When Zachary chatted with her, he merely wantedto probe for information to understand the situation between Lysander and Josiah. After all, his workwas within the sphere of influence of the Guerra family, and gaining more insight into Josiah could onlybe beneficial to him.

Daphne answered a phone call, exchanged a few words, then covered the receiver and askedLysander, “My dad wants to know if you’d prefer Ecronian or Epean cuisine.”

Lysander said, “Either is fine.”

“The Epean restaurant is just up ahead, but if you want Ecronian food, we’ll need to turn back

Lysander was somewhat taken aback. “Aren’t we going to your place for dinner?”

Daphne let out a sigh. “I initially suggested eating at home, but my dad mentioned that my grandmaisn’t doing too well. He was worried that it might spoil your enjoyment, so he decided we should cat out

instead.”

Lysander nodded, showing she understood.

Delores needed to rest and recuperate at that time. As such, a meal at the Everhart residence wouldinevitably disrupt Delores‘ rest.

Lysander turned to her parents and asked, “Mom, Dad, would you prefer Ecronian or Epean cuisine?”

Frankly, middle–aged people tend to have well–established preferences, and they certainly favorEcronian cuisine. However, upon hearing that they would need to take a detour, Maverick said, “Let’sjust go to whichever is nearer. If we turn around, we’ll have to get on the overpass, and there’s boundto be traffic at

this time.

Michelle quickly nodded. “Let’s go for Epean food. I’ve never been to an Epean restaurant before.”

After uttering a few more words into her phone, Daphne abruptly ended the call and continued driving.Shortly, she pulled up in front of an Epean restaurant.

Rufus seemed exceptionally well–prepared. He was dressed in Ecronian–style attire, looking vibrantand sprightly, and personally welcomed his guests at the door.

Lysander called out, “Mr. Everhart.”

Rufus greeted them warmly, “You’re here! Come on in. Your seats are all set.”

The Epean restaurant appeared quite luxurious.

Lysander tugged at Daphne’s sleeve. “Why is it so grand?”

Daphne shrugged. “My dad is a bit prideful, but don’t worry about it. Let Michelle eat to her heart’scontent. Please, don’t hold back.”

Epean dining differed from Ecronian dining in that it didn’t feature large round tables but rather utilizedlong rectangular tables.

Three people were on each side, facing each other.

Maverick and Laura were not very familiar with Epean cuisine. Lysander took the initiative and orderedseafood aglio olio spaghetti for them, a dish that would likely suit their palate. On the other hand,Michelle excitedly ordered a heap of unusual and exotic dishes.

Lysander ordered herself a steak and leisurely began to cut into it.

Rufus said with a laugh, “It’s no wonder Lysander is a surgeon. She wields a knife like a pro.”

Lysander gave an embarrassed smile. “Mr. Everhart, how is Old Mrs. Everhart doing? Please let meknow if there’s anything I can do to help.”

“Your words have put me at ease. Well, her condition has significantly improved. The doctor said shejust needs to rest and recover.”

Lysander nodded. “You don’t need to keep dwelling on what happened last time. Ultimately, it was thework of malicious individuals, and it had nothing to do with the Everhart family. You don’t need to keepit on your mind.”

When that topic came up, a shadow crossed Rufus‘ face. “I know you’re a kind and generous child. However… To be honest, the reason I invited you to dinner today is that I have a favor to ask.”novelbin

Lysander was somewhat taken aback. “Go ahead.”
