Chapter 393 What Would I Want With Your Life

A hint of struggle surfaced in Molly’s eyes, but if gradually turned into understanding as she gave aslight

nod.

“First, take good care of yourself and recover. We can discuss everything else later.”

Molly struggled to open her mouth to speak, but she could only manage to utter a sound thatresembled “ah.”

“I know what you’re about to ask,” Lysander began, “I need to give this some more thought. Theopportunity in Stounia is a promising one for me. Whether to stay or to further my prospects there, Ineed to reconsider.”novelbin

No sooner had the words been spoken when a knock resounded on the ward door.

The figure of Josiah appeared outside the door. Through the glass pane of the hospital ward door,Lysander could see his face.

She raised her voice and said, “The door isn’t locked.”

With permission granted, Josiah gently pushed open the door and stepped inside, “I’ve returned thefolding bed.”

“All right.”

Josiah asked, “Why are you standing?”

Catching a glimpse of Molly holding onto Lysander’s wrist, he instantly understood, Swiftly, he pulled acompanion chair from the side, placing it next to Lysander. “Have a seat,” he said.

Lysander sat and said, “You should head to the nurse’s station and grab another companion chair.”

“It’s okay. I don’t need it.”

“You barely rested last night. If anything were to happen to you, I couldn’t bear the responsibility.”

Josiah flashed a faint smile. “Who would dare burden you without my say–so?”

Qriginally, Lysander almost blurted out Lysanne’s name.

Upon reflection, it seemed that Lysanne’s current situation was indeed not one that could be easily putinto words:

Initially, Josiah’s regard for her was barely maintained by her title of “childhood friend. However, theirstatuses abruptly changed. Even though Lysanne was still a childhood friend, the prefix “not biologicallyrelated” had to be added.

At the very least, Molly would no longer threaten Josiah with her own life for her sake.

“Madam Susan?” Lysander asked, “You are the sole heir of the Guerra family, after all.”

Lysander playfully hinted, “Well, you’re mistaken there. There’s a difference between those who areborn into a family and those who are adopted.”

Susan had once expressed her desire to consider her as her goddaughter.

But certainly, it was nothing compared to the preciousness of her own flesh and biological son.

Josiah said, “As long as you’re not asking for my life, she probably won’t have anything to say.”

“What would I need your life for?”

“All right. Then I’ll stay,” said Josiah, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. “I can also helpMrs. Thorne with errands and assist Mr. Thorne in overseeing the company.”

Lysander glanced at him, choosing not to say anything.

“Mrs. Thorne, are you feeling any better?”

Lysander said, “She’s still a bit weak right now, unable to speak.”

Josiah gave a slight nod. “I’ve already spoken with the hospital. Mrs. Thorne can rest assured andrecover here. For the time being, no other patients will be assigned to this area, making theenvironment much quieter.”

Molly nodded in relief and extended her hand toward Josiah.

Josiah reached out and took hold.

Then, Molly gently placed his hand over Lysander’s, giving it a soft pat.

Josiah was quick to react, swiftly gathering his fingers to clasp Lysander’s hand within his own. “Restassured, Mrs. Thorne. I understand everything.”

Molly’s smile had not yet faded when Lysander had already withdrawn her hand. Standing up, she said,“I’m going to call… her husband, let him know she’s safe.”

She still found it somewhat difficult to utter the word “Dad.”

She reached for her phone, ready to step out, but Josiah stopped her. “I’ve already called them all justnow. Sit down.”
