“No.”

Eric raised an eyebrow, then replied, “Oh, poor Adrian. Looks like he still hasn’t won you over yet.”

Lysander said, “You don’t have to take care of me. Just treat me like any other new coworker.”

With a somewhat puzzled expression, Eric gave a nod. “Are you really not his girlfriend?”

“Really.

The workload on the first day wasn’t too heavy, so Lysander clocked out from work on time.

During her free time, she had searched online for rental information in the nearby area and filtered outa few suitable options, planning to check them out after work. If any were suitable, she intended tomove as soon as possible.

Little did she know, as soon as she stepped outside, she was startled by the piercing sound of a carhorn.

With a chuckle, Miles waved at her. “Did I startle you? Sorry. I just started driving this car today, so I’mstill getting used to it.”

Lysander waved her hand to indicate she was fine. “Did you come to the hospital to see a doctor or tovisit someone?”

“To visit a patient.”

“Oh, all right then. You’re busy, so I’ll get going.”

“Wait,” Miles stopped her.

Lysander frowned. “What is it?”

“Are you familiar with the layout of this hospital?”

She had actually made a conscious effort to familiarize herself with the layout of the entire hospitaltoday. and had essentially gained a good understanding of it.

“Which department are you looking for?”

“The burn department.”

“Take the elevator up ahead to the third floor,” she instructed. “Once you step out, turn right, and you’llsee the nurses‘ station.”

Miles asked, “Can you guide me? I have a poor sense of direction and always get confused whenever Ivisit the hospital.”

Lysander said, “You can have a nurse lead you there.”

“Well, I happened to run into a familiar face here. Besides, I helped you out at the pharmacy the other

He had a pleasant temperament, spoke softly, and was a very easy person to get along with.

She could somewhat understand now why Lysaane didn’t fancy Josiah but chose him instead backthen.

“Come on, Dr. Thorne. Please lend a hand…

Lysander was nudged by him into the elevator, and Miles, with his quick reflexes, swiftly pressed thebutton for the third floor.

As the elevator doors gradually closed, Lysander had no choice but to accept the situation as it was.

Upon exiting the elevator, Miles still didn’t let her off the hook. He blocked the elevator entrance with hisbody while nonchalantly asking, “Should we go to the right?”

It seemed that someone on the first floor had pressed the elevator button, causing the elevator todescend again.

Lysander helplessly replied, “Yes, turn right and keep going until the end. You’ll find the nurses‘ station, and the burn department is right next to it.”

“Take me there, will you? Let’s go!”

Josiah in the burn department.

He was bare–chested, his entire back and both arms covered in burn wounds.

Moreover, the injuries were not minor.novelbin

He heard the sound of footsteps and glanced over his shoulder.

Miles said, “I’ve brought the person you asked for. I’ll head downstairs to make the payment now.”

Josiah nodded. “Thanks.”

There were two nurses tending to his injuries, but the extent of the burns was so severe that they werekept busy for quite a while.

Josiah, however, showed no particular emotion. He glanced at her and said, “Have a seat.”

“How did it get this serious?”

Josiah chuckled lightly. “You never thought to ask, so naturally, you wouldn’t know I ended up like this.”

“You’re Josiah Guerra. Naturally, you’ll receive the best care. There’s absolutely no need for me to askanything extra.”

“Yeah, I’m Josiah Guerra, but I’m also human, not made of iron and steel. My burn injuries haven’t fullyhealed, and I got caught in the rain a couple of days ago. That’s why I’m in this state.”

For a moment, Lysander didn’t know what to say. “You should apply your medicine properly, and if youfeel uncomfortable, tell the nurse.”
