Chapter 353 There Is No Future For Us

“That’s because all of this is based on your assumptions. At the time, you’d already decided in yourheart that I would abandon you and our child for Lysanne. But you never actually presented the factsand allowed me to make my own choice.”

Lysander’s hands trembled slightly as she typed: I made myself perfectly clear that day at the hospitalentrance, said what needed to be said.

“Yeah, you’d thought of everything. For the sake of our child’s well–being, for my future, and for yourown. ability to come out unscathed, you’d calculated it all. You chose what you believe was the bestcourse of action. You made all the decisions, even decided for me without even asking me.”

Lysander: Josiah, can we not discuss this issue? I really don’t want to talk about it anymore.

“This issue has been a thorn in both our hearts, leaving a wound in each of us that has graduallyfestered over time. You’re always running so’ I can’t find you. Even when I do, you keep running away. When will we be able to lay all our cards on the table so we can finally discuss properly how we shouldproceed in the future?”

Lysander: There is no future for us.

“There is,” said Josiah. “There will always be a future for us.”

Lysander: Let’s talk about it in the future, then.

Josiah took a deep breath, finally giving in. “All right. I honestly didn’t expect you to have a properconversation with me today. This is already better than I had hoped for.”

Just then, his phone started to ring.

The two of them were sitting close together, so Lysander could clearly see the name “Carol” flashing onthe screen.

Josiah didn’t move aside to avoid Lysander and instead picked up directly. “What’s the matter?”

“Mr. Guerra, the representatives from the science and engineering university are asking whenconstruction can begin.”

Josiah asked, “Has the money been transferred?”

“Everything is in place now. They mentioned that there should be a groundbreaking ceremony beforestarting the construction of the building and wanted to ask if you would have time to attend.”

“Tell them I’m not free.”

“All right,” Carol said. “When should we commence the project? I’ve selected three auspicious dates foryou. to consider. Please take a look.”

“The closest one will do.”

“Understood. I’ll go take care of it right away.”

The science and engineering university.

Michelle was due to start classes at the science and engineering university soon.

Josiah said, “I’ve donated a laboratory building to the science and engineering university Isn’t yoursister studying material science there? It should be of use to her.”

Lysander felt extremely uncomfortable inside and typed. You don’t have to do this for me. I don’t wantto be in your debt.

“You don’t need to feel indebted to me. I’m just doing my part in cultivating talents for the nation. As abusinessman, it’s important to give back to society. Besides, Guerra Group has annual charity projects. This year, we may redirected our usual charity funds to donate a building to the science and

engineering university. It doesn’t make much of a difference.”

Lysander still felt rather uncomfortable.novelbin

Josiah rose to his feet. “If you’re not ready to move just yet, I won’t insist on it today. But Lysander, Ihope you’ll reconsider. You need to understand what it means to move into a man’s home.”

The hospital granted Lysander a three–day grace period before she officially started her job.

On the fourth day, Lysander reported to the hospital early in the morning.

Since she had only just taken the job, her responsibilities were not many. Her primary role was to assistthe obstetrics and gynecology department.

Fortunately, though her throat was still somewhat uncomfortable, she was at least able to speak.

This provided a great deal of comfort to Lysander, who had been tirelessly typing for the i

few days.

Compared to speaking, typing was indeed considerably slower.

Moreover, oftentimes, words couldn’t convey hier emotions at that moment.

She shared her office with a male doctor, a Stounian with golden hair and emerald eyes. A nurse waswhispering something into his ear, and the more he heard, the worse his expression became.

“I don’t understand. Why is she so resistant to me? I’m clearly trying to help her.”
