Chapter 321 Can You Use Your Brain

Harry heartily slapped Zachary’s chest twice, laughing. “Lysander, are you, st realizing now what kindof guy your ex-boyfriend was? Your best buddy Zachary, the one who grew p with you, sure knows howto hide his light under a bushel! If it weren’t for the fact that he’s not as handsome as me, he probablywould have taken the lead,”

Lysander found it hard to describe what she was feeling at the moment.

She was somewhat shocked, but not overly so.

She had long felt that Zachary was a man she couldn’t quite understand.

However, she couldn’t dwell on the details, nor could she dissect his words too much. All she knewbefore was that Zachary and Harry were close. Thus, she previously thought that the way he treatedher was something he had learned from Harry.

However, to her surprise, Zachary was the real mastermind behind the scenes.

Moreover, the situation could surprisingly be traced back to high school, to the incident that affectedDaphne’s entire life emotionally.

Lysander stared at Zachary intensely. “I’ll ask you just once. Did you instigate him to do that toDaphne?”

Zachary remained silent while Harry took a drag from his cigarette, his eyes hazy. With a frivoloussmile, Harry said, “Lysander, sometimes I really wonder if you’re as dense as a block of wood. Back inhigh school, Zachary was clearly trying to win you over, both overtly and covertly, but you nevernoticed. Yet, when I used his tactics on Daphne, she fell for it instantly.”

Lysander took a deep breath. “So, you two were colluding with each other?”

“Not exactly, but he did give me an idea and lent me a hand, enabling me to secure a spot at AUniversity successfully.”

Zachary’s hands, hanging by his side, subtly tightened.

Lysander saw it, but she felt it was even more ironic. “You went to ensnare Daphne, presumably for irecommendation, but what’s the point of Zachary trying to get on my good side? He’s two grades abo

us.”

Harry shrugged. “Obviously, it was all for the Mathematical Competition slot. Are you stupid? He was inhis senior year, so if he could win a prize in the Mathematical Competition, he’d get extra points for thecollege entrance exam! His grades in literature and Stounian weren’t that great. However, with thebonus from winning the competition, he could reach the threshold for a top university, However, you….Well, the school chose you to go to Apex City for the competition. There was only one spot.”

Lysander finally remembered.

That was back when she was a freshman.

Due to her natural talent in mathematics, from freshman to senior year, she represented the school in

various competitions on numerous occasions.

So, that’s how it is. Lysander lowered her head, letting out a soft chuckle. “I truly sorry, Zachary. I guessI was just born insensitive to love.”novelbin

Originally, Zachary was all wound up. However, upon hearing those words, he suddenly relaxed. “It’soku You couldn’t help me in senior year, and it’s the same now.”

“You couldn’t win me over in our senior year. What makes you think I would accept you now?”

“Because you’re desperate to end your marriage with Josiah,” Zachary said. “There’s no point indenying it now that things have come this far. I knew that the moment you divorced Josiah, anopportunity had presented itself. But Lysander, I must admit, I didn’t expect you to figure it out soquickly.”

“You don’t have to flatter me. I know you had nothing to do with my abduction. It was all Harry’s doing.”

Zachary chuckled. “As long as you know, that’s good enough for me.”

Harry angrily stubbed out his cigarette. “You still trust him? He’s a cunning person! How can youbelieve him when he says it has nothing to do with him?”

Lysander let out a small sigh. “Harry, can’t you use your head for once? You kidnapped me directlyfrom the Everhart residence. Even ignoring Josiah, the Everhart family will definitely investigate mywhereabouts. I’m not exactly small or unnoticeable, and the distance from the Everhart residence to thedock isn’t short. How many cameras do you think are along the way? How many witnesses would’veseen us? Then, there’s the Everhart family’s housekeeper. Do you think that just because you’ve paidher off, she’ll stay quiet? Do you think the Everhart family couldn’t do the same to make her talk?”
