Chapter 952 Refusing To Lend Money

Chapter 952 Refusing to Lend Money

"I understand, don't worry, there won't be anything like this again," Jenna nodded, feeling bitterinside.

Maybe she liked Rhys too.

But at this point, whether she liked him or not was meaningless. All she could do was keep this toherself.

After leaving Mrs. Williams' room, Jenna went straight to find Rhys and took a deep breath beforespeaking, "I already have someone I like. Please don't pursue me anymore. I'm afraid my crush willmisunderstand."

Jenna didn't even dare to look into Rhys' eyes as she spoke and quickly ran away after finishing hersentence.

She ran out onto the street with no particular destination in mind until her best friend called her upand invited her out for some fun.

The two of them met up at a nearby coffee shop.

"Wow! It's been only a few days since we last saw each other and you've turned into such a high-class lady! My dear bestie, tell me how you suddenly became so rich." Her friend's eyes widened asshe looked at the luxury brand logos on Jenna's clothes.

If she remembered correctly, Jenna's father was clearly a gambler. How did Jenna suddenlybecome so wealthy?

"Don't tell me your dad won millions in gambling overnight and became an instant millionaire whobought lots of properties? Is he now a landlord?"

"Lorelai, what are you thinking? That's impossible!" Jenna laughed bitterly inside.

If only that were true... But unfortunately for her father who couldn't stay out of trouble, getting richseemed highly unlikely.

"I got married but my husband comes from money too. However our marriage is coming to an endsoon," said Jenna with another bitter laugh.

She briefly told Lorelai about what had happened recently but left out the part where she had beenkidnapped.

As Lorelai listened more intently to everything that had happened recently in awe; "They say foolshave all the luck; looks like you have dumb luck."

That was the Williams family after all - they were considered aristocrats with access to whateverthey wanted whenever they wanted it.

Even if Jenna didn't do anything for the rest of her life, she would still live an affluent life, unlikeherself who lived miserably.

"By the way, since you're so rich now, can you lend me some money? I had a boyfriend before, asyou know. He was into stock trading and lost all his money in it. He even lost all of my money too.Later on, someone told me that it was called a Ponzi scheme." Lorelai grasped at the last straw andkept complaining to her.

You see, that money wasn't just her savings; she also borrowed some from online sources!novelbin

If her savings were gone, then they were gone. She could just cut back on expenses. But borrowingwas different. If she couldn't pay back the loan, then the bank would sue her.

"You're so rich now, can't you lend me some? I don't need much - just $500 thousand. I plan toinvest in a small business and when I make enough money, I'll repay you immediately. We're goodfriends after all; please help me out!" Lorelai kept pleading.

She asked many friends but who had that much money? After asking around for a while, she onlymanaged to borrow less than $100 dollars with a huge gap left.

"I... I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do about it. I don't have that much money." Jenna shook herhead.

It wasn't because she didn't want to lend or didn't care about her good friend but because shecouldn't afford it herself.

The Williams family was wealthy indeed but their wealth belonged solely to them; what did it have todo with Jenna?

Lorelai's face turned unpleasant instantly as Jenna said she didn't have that much money. Wasn'tJenna joking?!

"My situation is special," Jenna continued speaking halfway through before Lorelai interrupted,"Stop pretending! If you don't want to lend, then just say so."

If it was before, Lorelei wouldn't give Jenna a hard time. But considering the fact that Jenna hadmarried into the Williams family, it should be rather easy for Jenna to lend her 500 thousand.

"I'm going to repay you anyway! Do you really need to lie to me? Can't believe how arrogant youbecome once you get rich. Since that's how things are, let's not be friends anymore. You may gospend time with your high-class friends!"

Lorelai grew angrier and rolled her eyes. Jenna's family used to be poor, and they couldn't afford toeat often. Lorelai felt sorry for her friend, so she would give Jenna some of her living expensesevery time.

Although the money was not much, it was already everything for a student.

What did she get in return?

"I don't have any money right now. I'll try to come up with something and give you fifty or a hundredthousand dollars as soon as possible. Is that okay?" Jenna kept explaining because she didn't wantto lose her best friend.

Lorelai had helped Jenna many times before, and if possible, even if it meant a million, Jenna wouldstill give it.

"Ha-ha! Fifty or a hundred thousand? Who do you think you're insulting?" Lorelai sneered coldly."Asking Mr. Williams for five hundred thousand is no different from asking for fifty cents. If you don'twant to help me out, then there's no need to force yourself."

She wouldn't accept this kind of charity!

"You misunderstood me; I can't ask Rhys for money because my mother-in-law won't allow it!"Jenna shouted without thinking about anything else.

Mrs. Williams made herself clear that if Jenna went looking for Rhys again, then her mother'smedical expenses would be cut off immediately.

Jenna was really scared now; she didn't dare gamble anymore!

"Just leave me alone! Stop lying; aren't you disgusted with yourself?" Lorelai didn't want to hear anymore lies, so she picked up the lemonade on the table and poured it directly onto Jenna's face

before standing up angrily while looking at the disheveled state of Jenna who seemed like anabandoned puppy.

"Wasn't I good enough to you before? Everyone said that nobody wanted anything to do with agambler's daughter like yourself, but did I believe them? Not only did I not believe them, but alsodefended your honor when others spoke ill behind your back! And how are you treating me now?Get out of here right away; I never want see your face again!"

Seeing that Jenna still wanted to continue defending herself only fueled more anger inside Loreleiwho turned around and walked away.

"What good friend is she supposed to be! She's just a liar. Even after marrying into wealth, she's stillso stingy. Is she so afraid of me not repaying it?"

If she had options, how could she possibly try borrowing money from Jenna?

Besides, the borrowed money would go straight into paying off online loans rather than being spentrecklessly by herself. Why should Jenna act so heartless towards her? It was obvious that Jennahad no intentions to be friends with her anymore.

Well, she had friends anyway. Losing Jenna wouldn't be the end of the world.
