Chapter 938 The Lady Is Too Soft-Hearted (Part One)

Part of the reason why Samuel was able to run away was because the Qin Clan let him escape onpurpose. They wanted to know how much Felton meant to Harper so that they would know how tonegotiate with her. With the way she worked, they knew that only when they had sufficient chips couldthey move on with any kind of negotiation.

To the Qin Clan's surprise, even after receiving Samuel's message to save his master Felton, Harperdidn't take any action. Actually, they did the exact opposite: Harper and her husband hung out in thePhoenix City like a normal couple, as if Felton's disappearance meant nothing to either of them.

"Does Harper not care about Felton at all?" Beth asked, shocked and bewildered. She had initiallythought that as soon as Harper heard that Felton was in trouble, she would immediately go to the QinClan's mansion to save him, a scenario which Beth could take advantage of. With the way Harper wasacting, it seemed like no negotiation would happen, and that she would let Felton rot wherever he was.

"Little Harper," a voice called out as a figure draped in red cloak swooped down in front of Harper. Thisstunned Harper, and Matthew had to pull her away so that she wouldn't get toppled by the unknownfigure. Soon enough, they found out that it was only Daphne, and she was intending on landing onHarper.

With Harper out of the way, Daphne almost landed on the ground. She quickly stood straight andglared at Matthew. "What the hell are you doing, you stinky man?!"

Without even sparing Daphne a glance, Matthew took a handmade wooden hairpin from the stand infront of them, handed it to Harper and said, "This is a beautiful one. Try it on."

Harper obediently took the hairpin from Matthew's hand and looked at it carefully. "This is veryexquisite. Its craftsmanship is exceptional—a quality that is rare to see."

Matthew nodded in agreement. Daphne was being ignored by the couple, intending not to let her join intheir own conversation. "You are going too far, little Harper! You and your husband are bullying me!"she protested, pouting and donning a face contorted by frustration.

With that, Harper sighed deeply and turned to her, her stare indifferent. She said, "You deserve it. Whydo you still do that when I have told you many, many times not to do that! What if I wasn't able to catchyou? You could hurt somebody else, you know!"

"No, I won't. I know what I am doing. I believe that you'll always be able to catch me," Daphne said, herpreviously sad face becoming joyful. She leaned over to Harper and added in a low voice, "By the way,we've already uncovered clues about the Qin Clan. My brother asked me to tell you that the clan istaking action now."

"Yes, I already know that. Someone from the clan itself came to our inn yesterday," Harper said in acalm tone. "The man said that the head of the Qin Clan wanted to see me. He even told me to visit herobediently."

"Why is everyone in the Qin Clan so arrogant?" Daphne felt annoyed upon hearing what Harper said. Were the people of the Qin family stupid or what? Did they forget that Harper was now Matthew's wife?Did they think that Matthew would not be able to do anything to them since they were hiding in PhoenixCity? It should be known that if they irritated him, his three hundred thousand Black Flag Army soldierswould attack Phoenix City, and the city would have no choice but to hand them to Matthew in order tonot to go into unnecessary battles.

"Arrogant..." Harper pondered on the word carefully. 'That's right. The Qin Clan is too arrogant. Maybethe people of the clan thought that I am afraid of them because they are holding Felton hostage. That'swhy they're acting so unscrupulously,' she thought. "Arrogance is good. It only means that they arecapable," she outwardly continued.

"But I think that they're just a group of incompetent idiots," Daphne commented disdainfully. "We havefound their foothold. My brother was planning to tell you in person, but he didn't want to see the meanman that's always by your side, so he sent me to inform you."

"The foothold of the Qin Clan is not in the city, isn't it?" Harper guessed. Suddenly, she noticed a weirdperson staring at them in the crowed. 'Beth!' she exclaimed inwardly the moment she recognized her.She then prepared herself for the incoming danger as a sneer crept into the corners of her lips. On onehand, the Qin Clan wanted to deal with her; on the other hand, it also wanted to take advantage of her.If she was still the isolated and helpless Harper in the Chu Clan's mansion, she might surrender tothem easily, but she wasn't that girl anymore.novelbin

Now that she found her own strength, and had a husband that would back her no matter whathappened, she felt confident. If the Qin Clan thought that they could deal with her easily, they werecompletely wrong. But what was keeping her more interested was the identity of the person whoinstigated the Qin Clan. If no one instigated the leader of the clan, they would not dare trouble her likethis.

"Harper, did you hear me?" Daphne said, sounding a little annoyed when she noticed that Harper wasnot listening to her. "My brother has found out something, but he is not sure about it yet. But he askedme to tell you to be careful."

Harper got out of her head and nodded, saying, "I'm sorry I got you into so much trouble."

"Indeed, you have brought us so much trouble!" Daphne said awkwardly. "But we're already used to it."

"Murderous auras all around," Matthew suddenly reminded and approached Harper to protect her. Onthe busy street, they actually felt the murderous auras. Who were they? From the Qin Clan or otherforces?
