Chapter 879 Out Of Favor (Part One)
When Rolando woke up, he couldn't see Harper anywhere, so he immediately panicked. "Is thereanyone here?"
Hearing his voice, Harper who was taking a nap in the outer room, got up, and went to him. "How areyou feeling?" she asked.
With one foot on the ground, Rolando had already thrown away the quilt. He felt relieved at the meresight of Harper who was approaching him. "I thought you were gone."
Harper poured a cup of hot tea and handed it to Rolando. "It is true that I want to leave, but I can't dothat unless your men are willing to let me go."
Rolando took the cup of tea in his hands without saying anything. He understood why Harper wanted toleave the Imperial Palace. But he also knew that he just couldn't let her go at the moment.
In a soft voice, Rolando asked, "Can you stay in the palace with me for a few more days? If you wantthe Heavenly Book, I can give it to you."
Harper didn't say a word in response. Since Rolando had suddenly changed his attitude, she couldn'tfigure out what he was thinking. So she had no other choice but to remain silent. The Harmony Palacewas surrounded by multiple layers of protection with numerous guards in each layer, so not even fliescould enter. For Harper, getting out of the palace was as difficult as reaching heaven.
"Your Majesty, I just got news from the Bliss Palace that Lady Lilian is not feeling well." Sean's voicecame from the outside.
"If she's not feeling well, she should call for an imperial physician and not me. I can't help her," Rolandoimpassively said, as if Lilian meant nothing to him.
"Yes, Your Majesty. I'm going to call for an imperial physician for Lady Lilian right away," Sean said. Hethen left in a hurry. Rolando had been irritable since yesterday. Although his tone while speaking wasstill calm and composed, Sean was sensible enough to figure out his emotional instability at thatmoment.
After he left, Harper sighed and said, "She's still your woman and she's carrying your child right now.You'd better go and see her."
Rolando didn't respond to Harper's suggestion. Instead, he slowly asked, "Harper, if I can find outwho's behind the plot against us, how are you going to deal with that person?"
Harper frowned while fondling with Patrick in her arms. The creature was sleeping soundly with its fourlegs facing the sky. It seemed to enjoy Harper's touch very much. "We've already caught her and she'sin prison now."
Upon hearing what Harper said, Rolando immediately understood that she didn't want to hold Lilianaccountable. However, he couldn't just let her go that easily. He had long been thinking of an excuse,and this time, Lilian provided him with a great one herself. Rolando believed that Lilian was asking forit, and he wouldn't show mercy to her.
After he put on his clothes and shoes, he said, "Now that you don't want to make anyone elseaccountable, I'll forget about it too. I have a lot of reports to review today, so I'm leaving now. And,thank you for detoxifying me."
Looking at him, Harper slowly called out, "Rolando, there are a lot of ways that you can use to detoxifyyourself. Why did you keep on suppressing it instead?"
Rolando raised his head to look at Harper with complex expressions in his eyes. After a while, heturned away. Harper was right when she said that he had numerous ways to detoxify himself. After all,
there were countless maids in the palace, as well as Lilian. However, he didn't want to do that. Hedidn't want to touch any other woman.
"I'm leaving now," he simply said without answering her question.
"Rolando, are we still friends?" Harper asked in a low voice while fiddling with an empty cup in herhand.
Rolando didn't answer the question either. What he wanted was much more than that. He didn't want tobe just her friend. The reason why he had restrained himself was that he wanted to achieve his goal. Inorder to do that, he didn't mind constraining himself. But now that it was obvious how he could notachieve his goal even if he were to succeed in controlling himself, he wouldn't do it any longer. So hedidn't answer Harper's question. Only time would provide her the answer.
In the Bliss Palace, Lilian had smashed everything she could get her hands to. Naturally, the entirepalace was in a mess. Sean just stood there without saying anything. He hadn't expected that Lilianwould fall out of Rolando's favor so soon.
"Where is His Majesty? I want to see him!"
"Lady Lilian, His Majesty is too busy to come here and see you. But, he has already called an imperialphysician for you."
"Enough!" Lilian exclaimed, boiling with rage. Despite what had happened yesterday, Rolando hadstayed in the Harmony Palace for a day. It had gone beyond Lilian's expectation, making her extremelyrestless. She was afraid that what she had done actually turned out to push Rolando and Harper intobeing a couple. Sean simply shook his head. Lilian had been gentle and decent in his eyes. But at that moment, shewas like a spoiled brat who would endlessly make trouble for herself and everyone around her. Shelooked unreasonable and vicious.
"As I have said, His Majesty is too busy to come here and see you, Lady Lilian."
"He's busy being together with that bitch? Get out of my way! I'm going to see His Majesty!" Lilianexclaimed. Enraged, she raised her hand, about to slap Sean in the face.
Sean stepped back a little in order to dodge the slap. Failing the attempt, Lilian almost fell to the floor.Fortunately, Daisy was very attentive and she had agile hands to catch Lilian before she could hit thefloor.
"You dog! You're just a servant! How dare you avoid me?!" Lilian threw insult after insult at Sean, but hewas a shrewd man who had served in the palace for many years already.
"Your Highness, you look as ferocious as a tiger. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with your health. ButHis majesty still needs me to serve him, so please excuse me for my absence." With that, Sean directlyturned around and strode away, leaving no chance for Lilian to respond.
Lilian was about to catch up with him, but she was stopped by two middle-aged women guarding by thedoor. She was immediately irritated. Without a bit of hesitation, she slapped one of the women as hardas she could. She had thought that the woman would be hit so bad that she would spit blood. But as itturned out, the woman managed to endure her slap. Lilian, on the other hand, was thrown back and fellto the ground.
