Chapter 923

Estelle’s injuries were severe; her legs were cut off at the tendons. Even though they had been

reattached after surgery, it was gonna take a while for her to recover. Right now, she was stuck in a

wheelchair.

At ten in the morning, the sun was blazing. As they left the house, Manley tentatively asked, “Babe, can

you feel the sunshine?”

Estelle opened her eyes wide but didn’t say anything.

Immediately, Manley said, “It’s okay, take your time. The doctor said you’re already healing pretty fast.”

Estelle smiled, “No need to comfort me, I’ve already accepted the fact that I’ll live in darkness.”

That hit Manley right in the feels. After Estelle woke up and realized she was blind, she just sat there

for a bit. She didn’t cry or make a fuss.

But that just made him feel even worse.

He held her hand, pretending to be casual and said, “No worries, I can be your eyes from now on.”

Estelle laughed, “Josiah said he wanted to be my eyes, Xavier too. Now you’re saying the same thing,

if I had that many eyes, wouldn’t I become a monster?”

Manley pushed her slowly along the cobblestone road, jokingly said, “Even if you’re a monster, I’d still

dig you!”

Estelle thought he was joking and asked, “What about your girlfriend?”

“She’s not my girlfriend!” Manley said immediately.

“Then what is she?” Estelle raised an eyebrow.

Manley didn’t answer immediately.

He reluctantly admitted, “Okay, she’s my girlfriend, but we’ve broken up!”

“Why’d you break up?” Estelle asked.

“Because she wasn’t nice to you.” Manley looked down and said with a smile.

Estelle pushed his face away, and said in disgust, “You stink, keep your distance!”novelbin

Manley felt deflated. Although Estelle couldn’t see, she always seemed to know when he was about to

pull something!

His phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID and his expression turned serious.

After hanging up, Manley stopped, squatted down to Estelle and said, “Babe, I gotta take a call and be

right back. Just soak up some sun here.”

“Okay, you go ahead, I can get back by myself!” Estelle said.

“I’ll be right back!” After saying that, Manley got up and walked away, making his call on the way.

Estelle leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes. She couldn’t see, but she could feel the warmth of

the sun on her face.

In fact, she always considered herself lucky. Every time she was in a pickle, someone was there to help

her out. When she was starving in the orphanage, her grandpa and brother showed up. When she had

an accident during a mission and was buried in the cold dark underground, someone was there with

her. When she was seriously injured and close to death, Manley showed up again.

The fact that she was still alive was already more than she could ask for.

No one was lucky all the time, to have brushed with death and still come out unscathed.

Suddenly, she felt a twitch in her eyelid, she slowly opened her eyes and “looked” in the direction to her

left, and said with a smile, “Since you’re here, just come over, don’t be shy!”

Not far off, Josiah looked at her in surprise and hesitantly walked over.

Estelle knew, Josiah had been here a few times before. He just watched her from a distance, probably

hadn’t figured out how to start a conversation with her yet.

Josiah stopped a few feet away, staring into the girl’s eyes, before he could say anything, he felt a lump

in his throat.
