Xavier frowned, thinking he was dealing with a customer causing trouble, but turned out it was some
relationship problems with this young girl. Not his place to say anything then.
“I didn’t expect him to show up here, I already told him loud and clear, I won’t let him create chaos and
affect the business/”
“Don’t sweat about it!” Xavier flicked his ash, “Since you’ve broken up, his pestering is just him being a
pain in the ass. If he ever shows up again, tell me, or Damian if I’m not around. No need to be scared!”
“I’m not scared of him!” Norah mumbled
Xavier chuckled, “Anything else? Get back to work
“Alright, I’ll get back to work?” Norah stood up.
“Good”
As Norah walked out, she suddenly turned back and said, “You should cut down on smoking, it’s not
good for you!”
Xavier paused, then casually responded, “It’s a habit, no biggie!”
Without another word, Norah turned and got busy in the lobby.
Once Xavier finished his cigarette and returned to the lobby, he saw Norah taking orders from new
customers.
After a moment of thought, he pulled Damian aside, “Keep an eye on the lobby for the next few days,
especially on Norah. If her so–called boyfriend shows up, no need for niceties, just kick him out!”
“Roger that!” Damian grinned, “Don’t worry boss, we consider Norah as one of us. We won’t let her get
hurt!”
After a few more instructions, Xavier sent Damian back to his work
Not only was Norah part of the Lamont family, but she was also Estelle’s friend. And since Estelle was
currently dating Jonathan, the relationship was even more intricate. To Estelle, Xavier was almost like a
brother to Norah. So, both personally and professionally, he couldn’t afford any mishaps happened to
Norah in his restaurant. Otherwise, he wouldn’t know how to face Estelle
Xavier arranged for Damian to watch over Nicolas, and for several days, Nicolas didn’t show up. Just
as everyone thought that Nicolas had been scared off by Norah’s scolding, trouble struck.
One afternoon, the restaurant received a delivery order.
The customer was located in the Movie Center, not too far away. Norah took the call and it was a
simple order: grilled beef without any sides. After Zachary prepared the food, Norah decided to deliver
it herself.
The customer was located across the street, a 20–minute walk around the main street. But there was a
narrow alleyway that could cut the travel time in half, so Norah took the shortcut
The Movie Center was full of intertwined alleyways lined with buildings. Norah was halfway through the
alley when someone suddenly grabbed her from behind. A hand covered her mouth and she was
dragged into another alley.
Norah was terrified. She struggled and flung the food box backwards. The hot food hit the man’s face,
causing him to scream in pain.
Norah took this chance to escape his clutches and ran without looking back. But after only a couple of
steps, her path was blocked by three men.
Norah looked at one of them in shock, “Nicolas!”
Nicolas, wearing a mask and avoiding eye contact, rasped, “Don’t run. I promise they won’t hurt you!”
“What do you want?” Norah demanded angrily
“As long as you don’t shout or struggle, we won’t hurt you!”
“Why waste time talking to her” One of the masked men next to Nicolas suddenly grabbed Norah.novelbin
Norah backed away in panic, shouting loudly, “Help, help!”
Before she could finish, she felt a sudden pain in her neck and fell down
The man who had been scalded by the food threw away his brick, pulled out a sack, and threw it over
Norah, sneering, “She’s a tough one, hit me hard, and nearly
burnt me to death!”
Norah didn’t pass out completely, but the intense pain in her neck made her head spin and weakened
her body.
