“Well then, why don’t you just wear the truth on your face and tattoo ‘fake boyfriend‘ on your forehead!”
retorted Amiee.
Josiah remained speechless.
Estelle watched the two of them arguing and struggled to stifle her laughter.
Amiee glanced at Estelle and stated, “We won’t bother you any longer. Let’s go, Josiah.”
She grabbed Josiah’s arm and pulled him away.
Reluctantly, Josiah resisted, “I still have something to say to her!”
“What do you want to say?” Amiee dragged him away, refusing to let go, “If you don’t leave, I’ll call your
mom!”
“Call my mom? Are you a child?”
“I’m not a child, I’m a teacher, and I call the parents when the students in class don’t behave!”
“Amiee, have you no shame?”
The two of them quarreled and gradually walked away.
Estelle raised an eyebrow and walked out of the room, holding a cup of yogurt and feeling satisfied with
herself.
Upon returning to the private room, Emily was already back. Estelle handed her the yogurt and advised
her to sip it slowly, as it was known to be effective for hangovers
Emily’s cheeks flushed even deeper, resembling ripe apples on a tree.
Charlie briefly left the room and swiftly returned, carrying a bowl of noodles. It was a simple dish but
incredibly comforting.
Emily held the bowl of noodles with both hands, her eyes glistening with tears, clearly a bit intoxicated.
She laughed alongside Charlie and said, “Whenever I used to celebrate my birthdays, my dad would
always cook noodles for me, just like this.”
Charlie was aware of Emily’s family situation and observed the tears welling in her eyes. He felt a lump
forming in his throat and smiled, saying, “From now on, we’ll be the ones cooking noodles for you.”
Emily lowered her head, and amidst the warmth, a tear fell into the bowl.
She sat down to eat the noodles, and after the first bite, her phone rang on the side. She picked it up
and happily said to Estelle, “It’s my mom!”
Estelle smiled and urged, “Go on, answer it!”
Emily nodded, picked up the phone, and exclaimed excitedly, “Mom!”
Gina chuckled softly, “Why are you so happy?”
Emily’s eyes were smiling, but she remained silent.
Gina hesitated and said awkwardly, “Emily, Mom has something to discuss with you.
Emily laughed, “What’s the matter? Just tell me.”
“Emily, can you please let go of that bullying incident and not pursue it any further? You’re alright now,
and those people have already been locked up for over ten days. They’ve learned their lesson,” Gina
explained.
Emily’s smile slowly faded, and she asked, “What happened exactly?”
Gina sounded embarrassed as she replied, “Here’s what happened. Three days ago, your sister–in–
law received 300,000 from the Frey family. Your brother and I were unaware of this until today, when
Nora’s mom approached me and showed me a video. It featured your sister–in–law receiving the
money and promising not to pursue the matter or press charges.”
