Carson and Emily’s conversation lightened the atmosphere between them. Carson laughed and said, “I
won’t call you anymore in the future, but I hope you can still
call me Carson when we meet!”
“Of course!” Emily laughed happily.
“Now go back, your hair is still wet. Don’t stay outside in the wind. I’m leaving too!”
“Goodbye, Carson!”
“Goodbye!”
Carson took his stuff back to the car, got in, and waved goodbye to her.
Emily waved back at him, watching his car leave.
Charlie was sitting in the car, watching Emily wave. His face looked even worse.
Carson’s car drove away, and Emily was about to turn around when she suddenly heard a car.
Instinctively, she looked over.
It was getting dark, and she couldn’t see the person in the car clearly, but she was sure it was Charlie.
She walked over.
Suddenly, her phone rang again. She stopped and saw it was a call from Estelle.
“Emily, Charlie passed by your place. He’s here to pick you up. Just hop in his car!” Estelle said.
Emily: “Okay, I think I saw Charlie’s car!”
“Alright, see you in a bit!”
Estelle hung up quickly.
Emily held her phone and walked over to the Rolls Royce under the tree.
It felt like they hadn’t seen each other in a long time, but it had actually been less than a week.
Charlie got out of the car, still looking elegant and noble, but he seemed to have lost his previous
warmth. There was a sense of politeness and distance that reminded her of the first time she met him

She felt a bit uncomfortable. “I’m going to grab something, just wait for a bit.”
“No problem!” The man’s face was cold, and he didn’t say anything else, just turned around and got
back in the car.
Emily also turned and walked upstairs. The wind blew in the evening, and she suddenly felt relieved.

She had just made it clear to Carson, so why would she feel lost because of Charlie’s coldness and

Emily turned around and saw Mathilda with a bag of cigarettes and snacks, smiling and greeting her.
Emily stopped: “Mathilda, I have something to tell you!”

Emily said, “Please don’t let your boyfriend come over anymore!”
Mathilda was stunned, and her face turned pale. “Did he bother you?”
“Yes!” Emily said directly. “When I rented this place, I repeatedly confirmed with the landlord. The
landlord made it very clear that only you live here. If I knew you would live with your boyfriend, I
wouldn’t have rented.”
Mathilda sneered, “I stayed alone at first, but can’t I have a boyfriend now? Don’t you have a boyfriend
too? When you get a boyfriend, you can let him come over anytime, I won’t stop you!”
