Chapter 406

Chapter 406

Hearing the familiar voice, Charlie stepped in and slowly saw the image of the girl working diligently. A

smile spread across his face involuntarily. “When did you start working here? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I…” Emily subconsciously wanted to answer, then froze and suddenly turned her head.

Charlie was already near her, looking handsome and elegant, with his suit jacket draped over his arm, novelbin

smiling at her.

Feeling flustered, Emily stood up. “Charlie!”

“When did you get here?” Charlie smiled and asked.

Emily replied, “I started working here a week ago, but I haven’t seen you around.”

With many departments in the building, it wasn’t easy for people to run into each other unless they

made an effort.

Charlie smirked, glanced at Emily’s desk, and frowned. “Why are you still working?”

Emily smiled awkwardly. “Well, I haven’t finished my work, so I thought I’d stay a little longer.”

“No more overtime for you,” Charlie joked. “Seeing you makes me want to have your cooking again, I’ll

give you a ride home, and you can cook dinner for me to thank me.”

Emily chuckled, revealing two dimples. “Give me a moment!”

“Sure!” Feeling slightly unwell, Charlie leaned against the desk while waiting for Emily to pack up.

Emily put all the files into her bag and said, “Alright, let’s go!”

Charlie straightened his body, ruffled her hair gently with his hand and said tenderly, “Let’s go.”

As Charlie turned to leave, Emily blushed a little. She quickly took a deep breath to clear her head.

The two went straight to the underground parking lot. Charlie opened the car door and saw Emily about

to sit in the back. He said, “Come sit in the front, or else I’ll feel like a chauffeur.”

Knowing he was joking, Emily grinned, and got into the front seat.

They went to a supermarket near the Royal Mansion to buy groceries. When she turned around and

couldn’t see Charlie, Emily felt anxious and quickly went looking for him.

In the snack section, Charlie was picking out snacks with a shopping cart full of goodies. Holding a

large box of chocolates, he grinned at her. “I know you like this type of chocolate, so I bought a lot.”

At that moment, Emily understood why Noreen was so devoted to Charlie. He was wealthy yet

sensitive, something not all rich people could be.

Walking to him calmly, Emily proceeded to put the snacks back on the shelves. “Don’t buy too much,

we won’t finish them all.”

“But Estelle always visits you, and you both love watching movies. You guys can enjoy snacks while

you hangout. It’s a fun thing for girls, right?” Charlie smiled, putting the snacks back in the cart and took

her arm to continue shopping.

A saleswoman greeted Emily enthusiastically, “are you shopping with your boyfriend today?”

Emily’s face flushed with embarrassment, quickly waving her hand and denying. “No, you got it wrong.

He’s not my boyfriend.”

The lady looked at Charlie and said, “what a pretty young fella, no wonder this girl is willing to cook all

kinds of delicious meals for you.”

Feeling even more embarrassed, Emily reiterated, “He’s really not!”

Charlie, on the other hand, was unruffled and smiled, “Thanks for her hard work.”

“You two should be like that, taking care of each other, being considerate, making days better. She

looks good and is skillful, you better treat her well.” The lady rambled on while sealing their groceries.

Emily felt even more embarrassed, as the woman wasn’t usually so talkative!

Charlie just responded with a smile and thanked her, then took Emily’s hand to walk towards the

cashier.

Once they were out of the saleswoman’s sight, Emily hurriedly pulled her hand away from Charlie’s.
