Chapter 383

Chapter 383

Yvonne laughed, “Jonathan is really good, we’re done for if we’re up against him!”

Josiah refused to accept, “One round of cards doesn’t determine the outcome; I’ll make sure we take

them downl

Magdalen gave him a questioning look and casually laughed, “Maybe Mr. Larmont and our Ella have a

special connection. Every time they’re like in cahoots and snatch points easily.”

Estelle’s ears got a little hot, and she reached for the cards, “I’ll shuffle!”

“Let me do it!” Jonathan leaned in, and as he took the cards, his fingers touched Estelle’s icy cold

hands, causing him to frown involuntarily.

After shuffling, they continued playing. Jonathan glanced at his hand, seemingly disinterested, “Why is

it so cold? Josiah, turn up the AC.”

Josiah was shocked, “Cold? I actually feel a bit hot.”

Jonathan turned his gaze on him, “We’re just playing cards, why are you so worked up?”

Josiah gave a silly smile and got up, “I’ll adjust the thermostat.”

-Estelle stared at her hand, her eyes twinkling; her heart felt a little itchy.

The second round still ended with Jonathan and Estelle winning. Even though they never talked or

interacted with each other, their tacit understanding was astonishing. Every time Estelle scored,

Jonathan was able to respond, perfectly taking the points.

It seemed like Jonathan had X-ray vision, knowing which suits Estelle had more or less of in her hand,

and helping her take out the cards. In the end, the two of them won together again.

They went up two levels when they had good cards, only up one when their cards were bad. It was

smooth sailing all the way.

After a few rounds, the two climbed from level 3 to J. Except for the first round, Magdalen and Yvonne

never even got to be the house, feeling all frustrated.

Josiah’s face changed, “Jonathan, have you played before?”

Jonathan was calm, “Nope, first time playing!”

Josiah was convinced!

Yvonne leaned toward Jonathan slightly, supporting her chin, eyes alluring and gentle, “Can’t you let

me win just once?”

Jonathan shuffled the cards with both hands and looked up at Estelle, “Should we?”

Yvonne was stunned, turning to Estelle with a flash of surprise in her eyes.

Jonathan’s dark eyes showed no emotions. Estelle hesitated for a moment before answering calmly,

“Fine, I’ll let Magdalen win one card, and you let Ms. Yvonne win one.”

Jonathan nodded, “Alright then!”

Magdalen winked at Estelle, “Ella always has my back!”

Josiah knocked on the table, “Hey, Ms. Sampson, please remember that you’re on Yvonne’s side. I

suspect you purposefully lost points in the last round!”

Magdalen scoffed, “Don’t forget that you were the one who let Ms. Yvonne lose that round. I played my

cards before you guys did, and I’m not the one pushing responsibility onto others!”

Josiah’s face turned pale in anger. Yvonne quickly pulled his wrist, “Enough, let’s maintain some

decency!”

Josiah snorted, glaring at Magdalen before turning away.

Jonathan placed the shuffled cards on the table, “Let’s begin!”

They let the opponents win a card in this round, and only moved up one level. novelbin

Yvonne saw Jonathan shuffling the cards again before Estelle and felt uncomfortable even though she

knew it was just gentlemanly manners, “Losing all the time is no fun; I don’t want to play anymore!”

Josiah laughed, “Let’s go to the bar; it’s been a while since I heard you sing.”

“Sure!” Yvonne agreed readily, asking Jonathan, “How about you? Wanna hear me sing?”

Jonathan continued shuffling the cards unhurriedly, saying calmly, “You guys go ahead, I’ll have a

smoke, and join you later.”

Yvonne gave a gentle smile, “Okay.”

Magdalen’s eyes flickered, “I’m going to find Erik and play video games.”

After she finished speaking, she also got up and left, leaving Estelle and Jonathan sitting across from

each other.
