After a day was Saturday, and there was a gathering at the Macclain Mansion.
Except for Estella and Corley, who was on a business trip, everyone else was present.
The gatherings of the Macclain family followed almost the same routine: the men talked about
business, while the women discussed their children.
As they praised others, they also bragged about their own kids.
Of course, the ones always being praised were Sabina and Carmella.
During dinner, Simone deliberately brought up Carmella, mentioning how outstanding she was and how
she had been noticed by the design department and had already started working on her own design
drafts.
The group, of course, praised her immensely, while Carmella maintained a humble and reserved
smile.
Sallie glanced at her and laughed coldly with a deep meaning.
Seeing everyone praising Carmella, Natalia asked quietly, “Why isn’t Estelle here again?”
Simone’s proud face suddenly turned sour.
Leonie said indifferently, “Isn’t she working part-time? There are so many customers at the Midnight
Bar that she probably can’t take the weekend off!”
As she finished her words, the faces of the others looked upset. Mrs. Macclain frowned and said,
“Didn’t she resign? How can she still work there? If she ruins her reputation, will the Lamont family still
let her continue her tutoring job?”
Leonie scoffed, “She’s just short-sighted. If she could climb up the Lamont family, who would care
about this little money?”
Sabina glanced at her coldly.
Sallie looked over and said coldly, “Mom, what does this have to do with you? Can’t you just focus on
your food?”
Every time her aunt subtly started trouble, her mother would join and spoke harsh words, offending
others. She used to not care, but now she felt that there was not a single good person in the Macclain
family!
“Don’t interrupt when we’re talking!” Leonie glared at Sallie.
Old Mrs. Macclain asked Simone, “Has Estelle resigned or not? You are her mother, why don’t you
manage her properly? If something happens, it will affect our Macclain family’s reputation!”
Simone’s face darkened and she remained silent.
Bennett hurriedly said, “Estelle has already submitted her resignation, and besides, the summer
vacation is coming to an end, she will definitely resign!”
Carmella spoke softly, “Grandma, don’t blame my mom! My sister might not even listen to her!”
Geoffrey’s face grew stern, and he slammed his fork on the table, “She doesn’t even listen to her

Leonie stared a Sallie and said, “What’s gotten into you today?”
Sallie looked at Carmella with disdain, “No matter what Estelle is like, she’s not like someone who
deceives people with a fake autographed photo! If you haven’t seen KING, just say so, why do you
have to be so shallow and fake?”
She used to not care much about her cousin’s family and thought that Carmella was gentle, beautiful,
and intelligent. It was only natural that her aunt’s family loved Carmella and disliked Estelle.
But now, from another perspective, she noticed that Carmella had been quietly pushing Estelle out. It
was this fake rich girl who had taken Estelle’s place all these years and still wanted to monopolize the
family’s love for her, not allowing any room for Estelle!
She was such a hypocritical mean girl!
Sallie didn’t mention Carmella’s name in her words, but everyone knew she was talking about her.
Simone’s face darkened, “Sallie, what do you mean?”
Carmella’s face was still relatively calm, and she asked with a dignified expression, “Sallie, has
someone told you something?”
Simone heard Carmella’s words and immediately thought of Estelle, knowing that she was close to
Hans.
Sallie sneered, staring at Carmella, “Did you really meet KING?”
