Chapter 2200

The day after

Sylvia and Gabriel had returned from a lunch at a local diner, their conversation still lingering as they stepped out of the car. As they did, a group of five or six men approached them, their gazes lingering on Sylvia with ill-intentions.

As they brushed past, one of the men reached out a bold hand towards Sylvia's leg.

With a swift motion, Sylvia slapped him across the face, her expression a stunning portrait of icy fury.

The man staggered backwards, anger blazing in his eyes as he glared at Sylvia. Turning to his cohorts, he snarled, "Take her down!"

Gabriel quickly pulled Sylvia behind him, grabbing the oncoming man's arm and delivering a punch straight to his temple. The man reeled, utterly dazed, and toppled to the ground.

Gabriel's moves were swift and precise, his imposing aura causing the remaining men to hesitate. They exchanged glances and advanced as one.

With Sylvia safely behind him, Gabriel handled the five assailants with ease. Every so often, Sylvia would throw a punch – and while it lacked Gabriel's ruthless efficiency, it was still firm, precise, and powerful.

Soon, the garage echoed with cries of pain, and no one dared to come closer.

Before long, all six men were downed, one of them rolling behind a car. In his eyes flared a vicious determination as he drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed it into his own thigh. Not satisfied, he gritted his teeth and drove the blade into his abdomen.

Blood quickly pooled around him as he dragged himself out with a grimace of pain.novelbin

At that moment, the wail of police sirens sounded at the entrance of the garage.

Gabriel and Sylvia exchanged a look, their eyes filled with cool resolve.

He let go of her hand, opened the car door, and said calmly, "Get inside and don't come out unless I say so."

Sylvia hesitated, but at Gabriel's reassuring nod, she climbed into the car and shut the door, watching him through the glass.

The police arrived swiftly, and the men Gabriel had downed put on a display of terror, staggering towards the officers as they disembarked.

"Murder!" they cried.

"Someone's been killed!"

"Please, help us!"

Gabriel leaned against the car door, lighting a cigarette as he watched the approaching police with a cool, unflappable demeanor.

The officers surveyed the scene – the men who couldn't stand, the one covered in blood with a knife in his side – and asked Gabriel in shock, "Did you do all this? Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

Standing tall, Gabriel replied in a flat tone, "Let's talk at the station."

The officers, slightly intimidated by his presence but seeing his cooperation, simply said, "Get in the car."

Gabriel extinguished his cigarette, tossing the butt into a nearby trash can. As he glanced back at Sylvia in the car, he gave her a subtle nod.

She watched him until the police cars pulled away and the garage fell silent once more. Only then did she lean back and close her eyes, her heart seething with unspoken rage. Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

A few minutes later, Sylvia stepped out of the car, her gaze sweeping indifferently over the bloodstains as she walked briskly towards the elevator.

Back in her office, Baron's call came through just in time.

Staring at the name flashing on the screen, Sylvia felt a surge of repulsion unlike anything she'd experienced before.

After a few seconds, she answered.

"Ms. Jarvis!" Baron's voice was teasing, laced with smugness. "At work already?"

Her voice was cool and detached, "Get to the point."

"Quite the temper, Ms. Jarvis. Still fond of Gabriel?" Baron smacked his lips. "What a pity, he probably won't be able to keep you company for much longer." Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org

Sylvia's reply was icy, "Was this your doing?"
