Chapter 2128

Sophie sighed, "Okay, I'll give Estelle a ring, though she doesn't seem too involved in the LamontGroup's business affairs. Don't get your hopes up too high."

Robin was quick to respond, "As long as she can put in a good word for me with Mr. Lamont, I'mcertain everything will be sorted."

Estelle was the president's wife of the Lamont Group, and surely she had some sway in thecompany. Moreover, from the way things had gone down with KING, it was clear that Jonathan andthe Lamont family held Estelle in high regard. So, whether or not a partnership could happen waspractically up to her.

Sophie chuckled, "I'll give it a shot."

Robin beamed, "I really appreciate it, Sophie. Once the deal with the Lamont Group is nailed down,I can take it easy for a while and then, I’ll be able to spend some quality time with you."novelbin

"That sounds lovely," Sophie giggled, "But don't stress yourself too much. You're already doinggreat."

"I'm not there yet. I've got to push harder; I want to be the new big shot in J City. Then I can buy youa mansion and ensure you live a life happier than anyone else's."

Sophie felt her heart swell with emotion, "Robin, having you is all I need, honestly. You don't have toput yourself under so much pressure. I'm content with how things are now."

"The business world is a battlefield, and if you're not charging forward, you're just waiting to gettrampled," Robin's voice turned grave, but he quickly lightened the mood, "Enough of that. I've got acall to take. You get some rest."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Sophie felt unwell, not just physically but emotionally too, as her thoughts ran inturmoil. She had always admired Robin for his drive, but now she worried that his relentless pursuitand the immense pressure he placed on himself would lead to anxiety.

She lay in bed, feeling a chill, and touched her forehead - it seemed she had a fever again. Shedidn't want to get up for medicine, just wanted to sleep it off.

She'd feel better when she woke up, she told herself.

Curling into a ball, Sophie closed her eyes and drifted back to sleep.

After what felt like an eternity, she heard someone calling her, "Sophie, Sophie."

Her eyes fluttered open to see a man sitting at the edge of her bed. She tried to speak but herthroat was so hoarse, it felt like it was on fire.

Jason touched her forehead and said in a deep voice, "You've got a fever again, and it's a bad onethis time. I'm taking you to the hospital."

Sophie shook her head weakly, "No hospital."

"Come on, be reasonable. A quick IV at the hospital and you'll feel much better," Jason coaxed in asofter tone, knowing she was delirious from the fever.

"No hospital," Sophie insisted, "Some medicine will do."

Jason was so frustrated, he wished he could just pull her out of bed and carry her to the hospital.

Sophie's eyes, red from the fever, looked pleadingly at him, "No hospital."

Jason's heart softened at the sight, "I brought you some breakfast. Eat something, take yourmedicine, and if it doesn't get better, we must go to the hospital."

"Okay." Sophie nodded obediently.

Jason brought over the breakfast he had bought. Sophie tried to sit up but the room spun aroundher.

"Just lie down, I'll feed you," Jason insisted, steadying her.

Sophie lay back down and took a bite from the spoon he offered, managing a small smile. "Feelslike being a kid again."

"You might as well be," Jason scoffed gently, "You're grown up and still don't know how to take careof yourself."

Her voice raspy, Sophie whispered, "Maybe staying a kid forever wouldn't be so bad."

"What's so good about never growing up? Didn't you always want to grow up and marry Robin?"Jason pointed out.

A wistful look crossed Sophie's eyes, and she mused, "Actually, having a crush was... quite nice."

"Now you don't have to keep it a secret. Isn't that better?"

Sophie just lowered her gaze and continued eating the porridge without a word.

After consuming half a bowl, she lost her appetite.

Jason didn't push her. He took the leftover breakfast back to the kitchen and returned with themedication he had purchased – fever reducers and antibiotics.

Sophie frowned, "All this?"
