Chapter 2118

Gabriel walked back into the private dining room just as Jonathan had arrived.

Evelyn was initially seated next to Estelle, but as soon as Jonathan came in, she scooted over to sitbeside him.

Seeing Gabriel return, Evelyn beamed, “Gab, the food's out, and it's to die for.”

Gabriel didn't respond, instead turning to Jonathan, “When did you get here?”

“Just got here.” Jonathan said with an easy smile, pouring a glass of wine for Gabriel. “It's the host'shome brew. Give it a try.”

Estelle chimed in, “I want some too.”

Jonathan poured her half a glass, “That's your lot.”

Estelle wasn't greedy; she accepted it and then poured half of her share into Evelyn’s glass, “Youcould hold your liquor pretty well back in Zion. It’s chilly out; a little drink will warm us right up.”

Evelyn laughed, a touch embarrassed, “That was all an act; I get buzzed pretty easily.”

The group chatted while they drank, with Jonathan and Gabriel deep in conversation, but Jonathanstill made sure to look after Estelle with a consideration that made Evelyn look on with envy.novelbin

Noticing Jonathan serving Estelle, Evelyn picked up her utensils to do the same for Gabriel.

Gabriel politely declined, leaving Evelyn with an awkward smile.

As they finished their meal, Evelyn saw that Gabriel hadn't touched the food she served him, whichleft a bittersweet feeling in her heart.

She hadn't dared hope to be Gabriel's girlfriend; she just respected him a lot and wanted to fit intothe circle as soon as possible.

When it was time to pay, Courtney mentioned that Jonathan had already settled the bill.

Since it was all in the family, Gabriel didn't make a fuss.

Walking out arm in arm with Estelle, Evelyn expressed her satisfaction, “This place is amazing –great views, delicious food. I’m not familiar with J City, so from now on, if there’s a cool spot to hangout or dine, you’re taking me.”

Estelle replied, “No problem, there’ll be plenty of opportunities.”

Evelyn nodded enthusiastically.

Stepping outside Yum Yum Bakery, Sylvia was waiting for Eugene to bring the car around.

Turning to see the group leaving, she greeted them warmly, “Mr. Carnes, Ms. Macclain, Mr.Lamont.”

Estelle and Sylvia knew each other and began to chat, “Came with friends?”

“Yeah.” Sylvia chuckled softly.

Estelle said, “About that blind date mix-up, I’m really sorry I didn’t clear things up with youbeforehand.”

Sylvia glanced at the tall figure nearby, leaned in closer, and whispered with a giggle, “It’s fine byme, actually. I was more worried he'd get mad at you.”

Estelle replied, “My brother? His temper isn’t that bad.”

“Only with you is his temper fine. The rest of us used to be scared stiff of him.” Sylvia murmured.

Estelle couldn’t help but laugh, “No need to be scared now. You’re not under his thumb anymore.”

Sylvia patted her chest, “You don’t understand, it’s like a reflex.”

The two laughed together.

Evelyn joined them, “Ms. Jarvis, what a surprise to bump into you here.”

Sylvia responded with a soft smile, “It is. I didn’t expect to see you in J City. Are you visiting?”

She remembered Evelyn wasn’t from J City.

“I might actually be staying in J City now. I found my family.” Evelyn shared with joy.

Sylvia was taken aback, “Really? Congratulations then.”

“Thank you.”

As the three of them were chatting, a heart-wrenching scream suddenly cut through the air frombehind Estelle, “Estelle, you bitch.”
