Chapter 182

Chapter 182

Mrs. Macy took the gift and opened it, inside the box was a fine looking gemstone. She acted like she r

eally liked the gift, and softly thanked Winnie.

Estelle’s eyes flashed, and she glanced at Jonathan.

Jonathan held her hand and squeezed it a bit to comfort her

Everyone walked towards the hotel villa prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Schilder. Dinner was served and the

y ate and chatted.

Because Schilder’s wife was from C City, his dialect was very good. He and Jonathan Baldrick spoke th

e Country C dialect without a hitch.

Schilder even brought along a brown–

haired butler who had a stern face, carefully recording the conversations with his notebook.

Mrs. Macy sat by Schilder’s side throughout the dinner, looking obedient. You wouldn’t guess she was

over 35.

She could drink quite a lot, too. She could tell the name and

year just by smelling the wine. Quite impressive.

From time to time, Schilder and his wife would exchange whispers, displaying their affection.

Baldrick asked Winnie to accompany Mrs. Macy in drinking. Estelle decided to join them, but after just

one glass, Jonathan had the servants to bring her some juice.

Winnie was talkative and cheerful, well–

connected and with a wealth of knowledge She quickly became familiar with Mrs. Macy.

Estelle was

not good at talking and had no experience in such social gatherings. She felt guilty for not being able to

help Jonathan.

Magdalen was right. Estelle couldn’t escape this society, so she should learn social skills sooner or late

r

Jonathan didn’t care, seeing her being bored, he leaned in and whispered, “If you’re full, you can gonovelbin

to the terrace. There are fireworks tonight.”

Estelle nodded, and headed towards the terrace.

From the terrace, you could see the lawn where people were setting off fireworks, lighting up the dark s

ky.

Estelle leaned on the wooden railing and watched for a while. The breeze was cool, and her mood lifte

d.

“It’s a bit chilly at night here, Ms. Macclain. Don’t catch a cold,” Winnie came up from behind and wrapp

ed a thin blanket around Estelle’s shoulders.

Estelle turned around and said, “Thanks!”

Winnie stood beside her, looked back at the dining hall where Baldrick and friends were still drinking an

d laughing, and smiled, “Germans can really hold their liquor They’ve already downed three bottles of w

ine in no time”

Estelle said, “Schilder looks happy, guess their meeting went well.”

Winnie shook her head and smiled, ‘Hard to say. They are good at hiding their true emotions. Schilder’

s visit to our country is not just for the Anderson and Lamont families.”

Raising her eyebrows, Estelle changed the topic

and asked, ‘What about Mrs. Macy? Won’t she think it’s rude for us to be out here?”

Winnie laughed, “Mrs. Macy is on the phone, chatting with a friend. She probably won’t be done anytim

e soon.”

She turned her gaze to the distant mountains, her voice becoming a bit dreamy, “You know, Schilder is

very sttracted of women from our country. His wife and his close assistant are all from C Country So…”

She turned to Estelle, her eyes filled with meaning, “Do you know why Baldrick and Mr. Lamont brought

us here?”

Estelle stared at her in shock.

Winnie scoffed, “Men, they’re all the same!”
