Chapter 1738

Chapter 1738

She had never dared to hope that he might have feelings for her too, not even in her wildest dreams.

His words today had left her deeply shaken, more so than his confession that had taken place at the

James family's Thanksgiving dinner. At that time, she had thought that Charlie's feelings were just

unrequited, that he pursued her only because she was the first woman to reject him, and he couldn't

bear to give up But today, she heard his pain. He was in pain because he loved her.

Emily closed her eyes, feeling lost. Was her determination the right path? If she said yes to Charlie,

would they really have a future together?

The next day.

Charlie woke up in the hotel around nine o'clock. He sat up, rubbed his eyes, and looked around.

It had been a long time since he had drunk so much!

Looking at his wrinkled shirt, he picked up his phone and called Kent, asking him to bring over some

clean clothes.

He took off his clothes and headed for the shower. A few minutes later, he came out in a bathrobe

when Gavin walked into the room.

Gavin looked at him with an inscrutable expression and didn't dare to go any further, "Good morning to

both of you. Have a good time?"

Charlie frowned, "Hmm?"

Sensing something was off, Gavin tentatively asked, "There's no one else in the room?"

Charlie sat on the sofa, took out a cigarette and gave Gavin a faint glance, "There's a ghost. Do you

want to go inside and check?"

Gavin looked shocked, "Emily left?"

Charlie's hand paused in lighting the cigarette, "Emily?"

“Yeah, I deliberately left her here to take care of you last night, hoping that you two would have some

romantic moments. But to my surprise, she actually left!" Gavin said with regret.

Charlie's face darkened and he spoke icily, "Stop acting on your own, just go buy a flight ticket to

Megaton City!"

“No more, I promise!" Gavin said with a playful smile and begged, "I did it for your own good!"

Charlie tossed the unlit cigarette onto the coffee table, his face as dark as a thundercloud, and a feeling

of frustration enveloped him.

Gavin knew Charlie wasn't mad at him for acting on his own; he was upset that Emily had left and that

Emily seemed not to care about him at all.

Gavin sat across from him and smiled lightly, "Emily is a girl with a strong will. You should be glad that

she's not the type to easily fall for someone. If she were, who knows how many boyfriends she might

have had. She wouldn't be the one you're so smitten with, right?"

Charlie looked at him, “Don't do something like this again, it will upset her!"

"I thought you were mad because she didn't stay to take care of you, but it turns out you're afraid of

making her upset!" Gavin chuckled, "I never thought Mr. James would have such a humbling day!"

Charlie didn't show anger; instead, a sense of helplessness washed over him. His gaze was calm and

emotionless as he slowly said, "Let her focus on her work and don't bother her anymore."

He wasn't sure if he was saying this to Gavin or to himself.

Gavin asked, "What about the design for that building?"

Charlie lowered his gaze, squeezing the lighter in his hand, “You'll handle all the follow-up process from

now on.

I won't be involved anymore."novelbin

Gavin frowned but didn't say anything.
