Chapter 1725

Chapter 1725

“Look, if I catch you drinking again, I'll catch you back myself!"

The man waited for a response. Hearing none, he finally turned to leave.

Inside, Magdalen sat against the door on the carpet. As she heard the front door close, the tears she

had been holding back finally fell.

She looked up at the ceiling, tears streaming down her face.

On Saturday morning, Estelle went to tutor Henson. During their break, Henson said, "We have a

parent-teacher Meeting on Monday afternoon. My parents are out of town. Can you go?"

Estelle looked at him and asked, "What kind of meeting?"

Henson calmly explained, "Citywide Math Olympiad. I got first place. The teacher wants to hold a

ceremony and encourage the other students."

Estelle’s eyes widened. “First place? Top or bottom?"

Henson glared at her. “Are you doubting yourself or doubting me?"

Estelle chuckled, "Congratulations! I heard those Math Olympiad questions are pretty hard!"

Henson shrugged, "They're okay,’ he asked Estelle, "So are you going or not?"

Estelle quickly replied, “No, let Jonathan go!"

"Why?" Henson frowned.

“If they're praising you, wouldn't they want me to give a speech on your study habits and how I tutor

you?"

Estelle remembered attending one such event during her senior year in high school. She saw the envy

and jealousy in the eyes of those watching the parent of the top student give a speech.

She didn't want to be the center of attention.

"If Jonathan would go, I wouldn't have to ask you!" Henson grumbled. He then tried to talk Estelle into

it, "Come on, I'll tell the teacher you won't have to give a speech. Just sit there and let people look atnovelbin

you. After the meeting, I'll treat you to dinner."

"I'll treat you to dinner, okay? Stop pressuring me!" Estelle winked and smiled.

“I don't care! If you don't go, then Jonathan has to. My parents left me in your care. If you don't care

about me, I'll call my mom." Henson puffed up, “I'll say you two are too busy dating to care about me!"

Estelle was speechless.

She turned back to her study materials and calmly asked, "Do you think I'm scared?"

Seeing that his threats and bribes weren't working, Henson started to plead, “Estelle, just go this once.

It's a good thing. Some people would kill for this opportunity!"

"Estelle?"

“Estelle!"

Estelle felt her heart flutter with each call of her name. She thought for a moment, "Okay, I'll convince

Jonathan to go."

"Do you think you can persuade him?" Henson looked doubtful.

Estelle smiled uncertainly, “I can try"
