Chapter 1653

Chapter 1653

“But I don’t need your sympathy. If we were strangers, I would find you annoying. If we were friends,

your consideration would be a burden to me. Especially since you’re Estelle’s classmate and her niece.

I can’t scold or hit you, what am I supposed to do?” Xavier’s eyes were icy, his tone as cold as the

night. “Or maybe you don’t understand what I’m saying. We’re not from the same world. Forcing

ourselves together wouldn’t make any sense.”

The light in Norah’s eyes dimmed, and tears welled up, threatening to fall. “So, are you never going to

have a girlfriend or get married? Why can’t you give me a chance?”

“I never thought about marriage. Even if I were to find a girlfriend and get married, it wouldn’t be with

you, do you understand?” His voice was indifferent and raspy, full of mercilessness. novelbin

“Do you really have a heart of stone?”

Norah stared at him with tear-filled eyes, her voice choked with emotion.

Suddenly her long lashes quivered, and a large tear rolled down her cheek. She backed away slowly,

seeming somewhat disbelieving and heartbreaking. She turned and left.

Her figure disappeared into the shadows of the decorative plants and trees, her shoulders visibly

shaking.

A sense of inexplicable irritation surged in Xavier’s heart. He reached for his cigarettes, only noticing

the ‘No Smoking’ sign when he took one out. He put it back and stormed off.

He called Mr. Hanson but didn’t return to the private room, instead, he drove off in his own car.

The festive atmosphere filled the streets, which were vibrant and brightly lit. His black Jeep seemed like

a lone wanderer, speeding through the crowd, racing away. The worldly noise and excitement seemed

to have nothing to do with him,

Back at the bar, Zachary and the others were grilling meat and drinking, a lively scene.

“Boss, you’re back. The skewers are just ready, delicious!” Zachary shouted.

Tve already eaten, you guys enjoy!” Xavier tossed his jacket over his shoulder and headed upstairs. As

he passed the backyard, he inexplicably detoured into the yard.

A moment later, Damian came into the backyard with a few skewers and a beer, seeing Xavier sitting in

a wicker chair with the bar’s cat at his feet, seemingly asleep. As he approached, he saw that he was

awake.

“What are you thinking about?” Damian asked with a chuckle.

Xavier leaned back in the chair, his black eyes looking in a certain direction in the sky. “I’m watching the

moon.

“Watching the moon?” Damian looked up and laughed, “Well, it is quite full tonight!”

He opened the beer and handed it to Xavier, “Have a drink!”

Xavier took a swig from the bottle, the cold refreshing feeling traveled from his throat to his stomach.

He exhaled deeply, as if trying to vent the frustration in his chest.

The bar’s cat, attracted by the smell of the skewers, circled the table. Xavier grabbed a skewer, ate half

of it, and fed the rest to the cat

The cat swallowed it in one gulp and wagged its tail at Xavier.

Damian laughed, “This cat’s personality is a bit like Norah. It loves to play and eat!”

Xavier didn’t respond.

After they finished half a bottle of beer, Xavier casually petted the cat’s head and asked, “Damian, have

you ever thought about dating or getting married?” Damian took a swig of beer and wiped his mouth

with his sleeve, “I used to, but not anymore. I think I’m doing pretty well now. If I had a woman around,

I’d feel uncomfortable”

After a few drinks, Damian felt his tongue loosen. “You guys used to ask me why I went in. I never told

you, but it’s not a glorious story. After high school, I didn’t go to college I came to J City to work. I met

my first love in the factory. She was very pretty, the factory’s belle. A lot of guys pursued her, but she

chose me.”
