Chapter 1620

Chapter 1620

After Emily left, Gavin sat in a chair and teased, “Why do you have to speak to Emily like that? It’s not

that a big deal. You should trust her more than I do. She wouldn’t do something like this.” novelbin

Charlie lit a cigarette and took a deep drag. 1 just want her to know the consequences of not listening

to me!”

What frustrated him even more was that she trusted Wilson but not him!

“Emily indeed shouldn’t have been in contact with Wilson privately, especially at a time like this. But

Wilson’s so cunning that it’s not surprising that he could deceive Emily easily.” Gavin explained. Emily

is new to the workforce and doesn’t quite understand the complexity of human nature.”

Charlie leaned back in his chair, his gaze penetrating. He said in a subdued tone, This matter isn’t that

simple. We need to figure out who’s behind the scenes. Have someone look into it.”

“Okay.” Gavin’s nodded, then added, “Let Emily come with me to meet with those representatives later.

Otherwise, Emily will feel even worse. Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone harm her.”

Charlie fell silent for a moment before nodding slightly, “Okay”

Back at her desk, Emily felt as if a huge rock was pressing on her heart, laden with guilt and a sense of

injustice.

She decided to call Wilson again. To her surprise, this time, he answered after only two rings. His voice

sounded a bit rushed, “Emily, I’m really sorry. I was busy and missed your call. I was just about to call

you back.”

Emily let out a sigh of relief as Wilson answered the call. “Mr. Walton, what’s going on?”

Tm still investigating. Don’t worry. I’ll give you an explanation!” Wilson assured earnestly.

Emily nodded. “Alright, I’ll be waiting for your response”

Wilson asked with concern, is everything okay on your end? I’ll personally call Mr. James to explain the

situation. If anyone gives you a hard time, just take a few days off and stay at home until this mess is

resolved.”

“No need Emily shook her head. She suddenly remembered something and asked, “In the photos that

the Iriver Group received, there’s someone who came to my house to deliver gifts. Was that from

you?”

Wilson immediately responded, “No, I didn’t send anyone to deliver anything to you.”

Emily frowned. “Alright, got it.”

After hanging up the phone, Emily couldn’t help but wonder whether the person behind all this mischief

was targeting Horizon Enterprises or her specifically?

It seemed like this matter was targeted at her, but Horizon Enterprises would undoubtedly be affected

as well. In this bidding project, Horizon Enterprises had significant advantage, which made the other

four companies currently appear suspicious.

She lost in thought for a while and then she saw Gavin emerge from the CEO’s office. She immediately

stood up to talk to him.

Gavin grinned. “You really want to come with me? Those people might be emotionally charged, their

words might be harsh.”

Emily looked at him, her gaze was resolute. “It’s alright. I caused this trouble myself, there’s nothing to

be afraid of.”

Gavin smirked. “Alright then, let’s go.”

They walked side by side, heading to the elevator. As they entered the elevator Gavin broke the

silence. “Mr. James was a bit harsh in his words just now. Don’t take it to heart.”

Emily lowered her gaze. “Considering the mess I’ve just caused, the fact that Mr. James didn’t fired me

on the spot, he’s been quite kind to me.”

Gavin turned to glance at her. “Why would you think Mr. James would fire you?”

Emily pressed her lips and didn’t say anything.

Gavin spoke with a significant undertone, “We’ve encountered issues that were ten times more serious

than this, and Mr. James has always remained composed. He only loses his composure when it comes

to you”
