Chapter 1542

Daisy was holding back discomfort, she still had a soft spot for Xavier. Being accused like this in front

of him, she felt extremely embarrassed, as if she wanted to find a hole to crawl into and disappear.

In her underwear, there was no way she was going to strip down and give her skirt to Norah. All she

could do was take out her phone and refund the $6,800 she had just received to Norah, then storm off

in a huff.

Norah settled back in her seat, took a sip of hot chocolate, and was in high spirits.

Even if she was loaded, she wasn't about to let a bad apple take advantage!

Xavier turned to her, murmuring, "Come over!"

Norah scoffed. "I don't want to sit where she just sat; you come over here."

Xavier gave a helpless chuckle, got up, and seated himself next to Norah.

"What do you want to eat? My treat!" Xavier passed the menu to her.

"Are you trying to thank me? I'm afraid you might not have enough to cover the bill." Norah propped her

cheeks up with both hands, her eyes shimmering under the light, looking absolutely adorable.

"If I can't pay the bill, you'll have to stay and wash dishes!" Xavier jested.

"Don't worry, I'll drag you into dish-washing with me!" Norah retorted immediately.

Xavier glanced at her and gave a faint smile. "Alright, we'll wash together. We can clear the bill faster

that way."

Norah's heart skipped a beat, and a hint of unease flashed across her face. It had been a while since

they last sat together and chatted like this after she confessed to him in the backyard and got rejected.

She collected herself. "Um, my uncle and Estelle are upstairs; shall we join them?"

"Nah!" Xavier replied, "I'm not familiar with Estelle's friends." novelbin

He checked the time and said, "You should go upstairs too, I need to get back to the shop."

"I don't feel like going up either." Norah murmured, stirring her chocolate slowly.

Xavier gazed out of the window, not saying a word.

After a while, Norah asked him, "Why did you come to the blind date?"

Xavier turned his head, speaking flatly, "Someone else arranged it, I didn't know about it."

"Oh!" Norah breathed a sigh of relief, then asked, "So, if I hadn't shown up, would you two have gone

to the movies?"

"No way!" Xavier answered firmly.

Norah gave a faint smile. "So I actually did you a favor!"

Xavier nodded. "Yes, I was at a loss on how to turn her down."

"Then you should thank me properly!"

"Alright, how should I thank you?"

In the dim light, Norah and Xavier locked eyes. She seemed to catch a whiff of a faint floral scent,

speaking softly, "Treat me to a movie, consider it a thank-you."

Xavier looked into her innocent eyes, finding himself unable to refuse. He slowly nodded. "Alright, I'll

take you to a movie."

"Let's go now!" Norah got up immediately, picking up her phone. "I'll buy the tickets now."

"Eat something first." Xavier noticed she hadn't touched her dessert.

"I'm not hungry, let's get going!" Norah pulled Xavier up, eager to leave.

There was a new romantic drama out that was all the rage online, and Norah had been wanting to see

it. But she chose a comedy instead to avoid any awkward moments.

At the theater, they still had half an hour before ticket check. Norah told Xavier, "Wait here for me while

I get the tickets. Don't wander off, it's crowded. I'm afraid I won't be able to find you later."

"Alright." Xavier nodded nonchalantly.

While Norah was in line for tickets, Xavier saw many girls with popcorn and bubble tea. After some

thought, he stopped a girl to ask where she got the snacks.

The girl was taken aback by the bearded man before realizing he was quite handsome. She quickly

pointed him in the right direction.

Xavier thanked her and went to get popcorn.

Norah returned with the tickets to find Xavier gone. She looked around and didn't see him. She was

suddenly anxious. Did he change his mind and bail?

Norah quickly took out her phone and called him.

After a few rings, Xavier picked up. Norah asked anxiously, "Where did you go?"

"Right behind you."
