Chapter 1379

Chapter 1379

Carmella hung up the phone and got up to head downstairs.

As soon as she set foot on the stairs, she heard Simone’s excited voice.

“Carmella, I’ve invited some friends to celebrate with you. Where do you want to go tonight?” novelbin

Carmella chuckled. Simone had finally realized her importance, hence this sudden change of attitude.

Hiding her dissatisfaction and disdain behind a sweet smile, Carmella approached Simone. “You

decide. I’m cool with anything.”

Simone hugged Carmella tightly, eyes full of affection. “Carmella, you’re the best. Let’s see who dares

to talk smack now!”

“I told you. I won’t let you down,” Carmella said, batting her eyelashes.

“My good girl!” Simone was overjoyed.

Bennett pondered for a moment, then suggested, “We have guests today, and it’s such a big

celebration. Why don’t we use this opportunity to invite Estelle back? We can all celebrate together and

maybe iron out some differences.”

Simone’s face fell instantly. “Is that necessary? This has nothing to do with Estelle.”

Carmella’s eyes sparkled as she said, “Mom, don’t be mad. Dad just wants Estelle to join our

gathering. I think it’s a good idea.”

“What’s so good about it?” Simone sneered. “You’re always thinking of her, but does she ever consider

you? She’d love nothing more than to see you fall.” Bennett said sternly, “Don’t say such things in front

of Carmella.”

“Anyway, I disagree with inviting Estelle back. And I’ve invited guests today. How am I supposed to

introduce Estelle to Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Xenia when we’ve never acknowledged her publicly before?”

Bennett quickly said. “This could be a good opportunity to publicly acknowledge Estelle.”

“How is that fair to Carmella? You want everyone to know Carmella is not our biological child?” Simone

mocked.

Carmella lowered her head and said, “If it’s for Estelle to come home, I don’t mind. Don’t worry about

me!”

“Absolutely not!” Simone flatly refused. Today’s celebration is for you. If we acknowledge Estelle

publicly, it’ll steal your thunder. I will not allow it.”

Bennett realized it probably wasn’t the best time and quickly backtracked, “I was just suggesting. If

you’re against it, let’s drop it. We don’t want to ruin the mood.”

“If you know Estelle will ruin the mood, then don’t ever bring her up!” Simone said, her face full of

resentment.

Bennett quickly tried to make peace. “Alright, it’s my fault. If you don’t mention Estelle, I promise not

to!”

Carmella quickly changed the subject. “I have something to discuss with you.”

“What is it?” Simone instantly softened and held Carmella’s hand.

“Well, a friend of mine has a brother named Victor. He just graduated and didn’t want to work in his

family’s company. He’s been bumming around, and my friend hopes I can help him get some

experience in the Macclain family’s company. Dad, are you cool with that?” Carmella looked sweetly at

Bennett. Bennett warmly replied, “That’s no biggie. What did he study, and what kind of work does he

want to do?”

“I think he studied marketing management. Why not let him work in the procurement department?

That’s where he can really hone his skills,” Carmella suggested

“We’re not short on staff in procurement, but since he’s your friend’s brother, I can arrange a spot for

him,” Bennett said with a smile. Let him come see me at the office on Wednesday”

“You do not need to go out of your way for such a small matter. I’ll have Victor go directly to the

procurement manager for guidance, Carmella said.

“Alright, tell the company it’s my decision. The procurement manager can guide him without any

worries,” Bennett agreed readily, in high spirits.

“Okay, thanks”

“We’re family, no need to be formal,” Bennett said in a friendly manner.

Carmella breathed a sigh of relief Her eyes sparkled, and her smile grew even sweeter
