Chapter 1349

Chapter 1349

Charlie sprawled out on the couch, all cool and chill, grinning, Tim here for the wedding, not some

corporate meeting Why’d you invite him?”

The department manager was sweating buckets, scrambling with an explanation: “Mr. Sample was

supposed to come too.”

Charlie just nodded, about to text Emily on his phone, when suddenly the sound of children playing

outside caught his attention.

Outside the banquet hall, there was a small lawn full of balloons for the newlyweds photo shoot. Right

now, it was overrun with kids of the wedding guests having a ball.

Charlie glanced over, his eyes suddenly stopping at one spot

Beside a big heart-shaped balloon arch, Emily was kneeling on the ground, facing Kya in a white

princess dress, who handed her an uninflated balloon. Emily took the balloon, put it on her lips, and

started puffing her cheeks to blow it up.

The sun shone on Emily’s soft hair and warm face, reflecting a soft glow

Kya clapped for Emily, who was puffing her cheeks to inflate the balloon. When the balloon was aboutnovelbin

the size of her face, she tried to remove it from her mouth but didn’t hold it well, and the balloon popped

out and flew away.

Emily and Kya both reached out to catch the balloon, tumbling over each other and laughing heartily

Seeing this scene, Charlie’s face softened, a smile creeping onto his lips.

The department manager looked at Charlie’s smile and was a bit shocked. He followed Charlie’s gaze

to see the kids playing on the lawn, but he didn’t know who made this usually stern CEO smile.

Charlie got up and walked towards the French windows, Emily’s laughter becoming more distinct in his

sight.

He stared deeply at Emily, remembering how she used to always have a smile on her face, even when

life was tough.

He couldn’t remember when she stopped smiling at him.

Even if she occasionally sneaked a smile, she would quickly suppress it once he noticed.

Did he hurt her that much?

But he didn’t want to let her go.

Charlie chuckled helplessly, turning around to find Kya.

He pictured Emily’s surprise and restraint upon seeing him.

He felt an urge to laugh, wondering if he was a bit twisted for wanting to ruin Emily’s relaxed

expression.

There was a long hallway between the VIP room and the banquet hall, leading to the outdoor lawn.

As Charlie walked out, he overheard some women chatting in a nearby preparation room.

“Linda, what’s going on with Emily’s kid?”

A lady in a red dress holding a flower replied with a hint of annoyance, “Who knows? She said she

went out to study and came back with a kid. It’s a good thing Shawn wasn’t home; otherwise, he’d blow

a fuse! Gina never had a backbone; she can’t even control her own daughter.”

If Gina can’t handle it, shouldn’t you step in?”

“How would I? Emily never listens to me. Today is Elliott’s wedding. Emily doesn’t feel embarrassed,

nor does she worry about humiliating Elliott. She even brought that child along. I’m utterly mortified”

“Emily doesn’t seem like the type to not take care of herself!”

“Emily might seem nice, but that doesn’t mean she truly is. Look at my Kenny, though she’s a bit of a

daredevil, would she ever dare to do something unconventional?”
