Chapter 1272

Chapter 1272

Emily stood there firmly, her eyes locked with the man’s raging gaze through the scattered papers.

A hint of surprise and confusion was painted on her face

Charlie once cherished her dumbfounded look, but now it filled him with pure disgust. His eyes were

flamed with anger, “What are you looking at? Don’t play innocent; it makes me sick!”

Emily’s eyes slightly trembled, and her face paled in an instant. She bent down, gathering the scattered

documents, examining each one. Soon, she realized that Tracy had left out some of the information

she had organized

“Daydreaming about romance and dates, huh?” Charlie sneered, and his face was stiff, “You seem

quite active when it comes to love. You got dumped by an irresponsible dude once, and you’ve already

forgotten the lesson. You just can’t control yourself around men, can you?”

“Emily, who do you think you are to date?”

Emily squatted, her hands tightly holding a stack of documents. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she

forced them back.

She continued to pick up the papers, her thin frame looking even more fragile. She remained silent.

Charlie initially wanted to scold her further, but seeing her pale face, a pang of pain hit his heart. He

turned away, his chest heavy with unspoken words. Just then, the office door swung open, and Gavin

walked in. He glanced at Emily picking up the mess and then at Charlie’s angry face. He chuckled,

“What did Emily do to make you so mad?”

He crouched down to help Emily

“Leave her, let her pick it up herself!” Charlie snapped.

Gavin looked up, slightly surprised. He had never seen Charlie so furious at an assistant. What on

earth happened?

Charlie’s behavior was unrecognizable to him!

“Thank you, sir. I can handle this, Emily murmured.

Gavin continued to help her, and then comforted her, “Mr. James is in a bad mood, he didn’t mean to

scold you. Don’t take it to heart, go back to work!”

Thank you!” Emily thanked him, then left with the documents without a glance at Charlie

When Emily left, Gavin sat down, chuckling, “Why scare the poor girl? She’s been with us for less than

a month, and honestly, she’s doing great. The paperwork, the meeting records, the project tracking, no

mistakes at all. Girls like her, diligent and competent, are hard to come by now”

Charlie shot him a cold look, “I don’t need you to tell me!”

“You know it too?” Gavin grinned, “Then you should appreciate her, don’t scare her off

“She wouldn’t dare! Charlie retorted.

“Well, who knows, maybe she’s drafting her resignation right now!”

But Charlie thought, if she could be loyal to him, what couldn’t he give her?

His thoughts were a mess, and he snapped, “Focus on your work, don’t interfere with her personal

stuff.”

Out of curiosity, Gavin chuckled, “Something must’ve happened, or someone pissed you off. You’re not

acting like yourself, Mr. James”

Charlie lit a cigarette, puffing out a smoke ring. He had been feeling suffocated since last night, and it

hadn’t been relieved. He didn’t know how to vent it

out

Even after scolding Emily, he didn’t feel any better.

Seeing her speechless under his reproach, he felt even more annoyed.

“Had a bad night,” Charlie got up and walked to the large window, one hand in his pocket, slowly

inhaling the smoke.

“You didn’t get dumped, did you?” Gavin joked but felt it was unlikely. Mr. James had been through

countless breakups, always the one to dump others when he got bored, and never losing his cool likenovelbin

this.

He continued guessing, “Or did someone dump you?”
