Chapter 1236

Chapter 1236

Emily’s eyes were bright and clear. “Even though I’m not loaded, I know the value of giving back. How

about I treat you to a meal?”

“Maybe next time!” Charlie said it casually

“Alright!” Emily said it with a smile.

Seeing her innocent expression, Charlie felt a warmth in his heart and quickly looked away

As the dishes started to arrive, they began their meal. Emily’s phone started ringing just then. Seeing

that it was Gina calling, she had a good guess about the reason. Not wanting to upset Charlie, she

quickly picked up her phone, planning to step out to take the call.

“Just take it here!” Charlie seemed to have read her mind and said it casually

Emily gave him a glance and then answered the phone. “Mom!”

“Emily, what on earth did you say to the Ferber family? They just called me, they’re pissed! They said

our family lacks integrity, and they’re rethinking your brother’s marriage to Bonnie!’ Gina said

immediately.

Bonnie’s uncle was hospitalized at South Hospital. When the Ferbers went to visit him, they boasted

about Bonnie’s future in-laws, saying Emily’s husband was an associate director at South Hospital,

which was quite impressive. Bonnie’s cousin then asked the Ferbers if they could help move him to the

free ward. Terry promised without hesitation, even bragging that it could be done without any review

process. After that, Terry called Emily. He thought it was a small thing, but Emily turned him down. The

Ferbers were instantly dissatisfied and called Gina, complaining that the Sullivans were full of hot air

and the so-called son-in-law of South Hospital was all talk! When Gina heard that the Ferbers might

call off the wedding, she was extremely anxious. She comforted them and then called Emily.

I can’t help the Ferbers, and I don’t want to keep lying to them!” Emily said it directly.

“How can you say it’s a lie? Isn’t Dr. Martin pursuing you? If you two end up together, it’ll be true; how

can you call it a lie?” Gina said urgently, “Besides, even if you can’t help, you could have been more

tactful! Now you’ve pissed off the Ferbers. If they call off the wedding, what are we going to do? Emily,

can’t you think about your brother before you do something?”

Gina was talking a mile a minute, and Emily’s face turned pale. She bit her lip tightly, her eyes filled

with pain. “I care about my brother, but have you ever thought about me?” “Of course we think about

you, isn’t Dr. Martin good? It’s like we’re pushing you into a fire pit!” Gina said angrily, “Call Dr. Martin

now and ask him to help!”

“He can’t help, and I won’t call!” Emily said it firmly.

“Emily, are you trying to make me drop dead before you’ll be happy?

Emily was about to reply when Charlie suddenly stretched out his hand and said, “Give me the phone!”

Emily looked up, surprised to see Charlie. He was staring at her. He took the phone from her hand and

put it to his ear, saying casually, “This is Charlie.”

Gina hesitated. “Mr. James?”

Charlie’s voice was quite cold. “Is your son’s wedding important and your daughter’s life not? She

doesn’t like Martin, but you’re forcing her to marry him to please the Ferbers?”

Gina’s voice weakened. “That’s not what I meant!”

“Then why are you forcing her?” Charlie’s tone was full of authority: “Between outsiders and your ownnovelbin

daughter, your choice should be to protect your own daughter, right?”

Gina said awkwardly, “I just wanted to ask Emily what’s going on.”

Charlie chuckled coldly. “It seems like you’ve been blaming her since you came in, not trying to

understand the situation.”

Gina was struck by his words and couldn’t say a word.

Seeing Emily’s frowning face, Charlie swallowed his anger and softened his tone, saying, “Don’t blame

Emily anymore. I’ll take care of the Ferbers’ problem. It won’t affect Elliott’s wedding.”
