Chapter 1118

Jonathan cracked a lazy smile, “At first it was too sweet, but then it grew on me. No wonder you’re

such a sugar addict” Estelle shrugged nonchalantly, “I started eating sweets because they give me

instant energy”

Jonathan looked surprised. He thought her sweet tooth was a result of being deprived of treats as a

child by her strict foster parents.

So there were other reasons.

He suddenly remembered her training with Gabriel from the age of six. She must’ve been the youngest,

with less stamina than the others and burning energy faster. That was probably why she relied on

sweets like chocolate to quickly replenish her energy.

Gradually, she became dependent on sugary treats.

Jonathan felt a pang of sympathy. He chuckled, “Well, I guess I’ll ease up on the restrictions on your

sugar intake then.”

Estelle finished her macaron and started on a chocolate mille-feuille. Hearing Jonathan’s words, she

looked a bit peeved Did she need his permission to eat sweets?

Jonathan smirked, letting out a barely audible sigh, “Every time I set a limit for you, I’m the one who

can’t stick to it. Like today, I wasn’t supposed to buy you ice cream, but I couldn’t resist seeing you

happy.”

Estelle looked out the window, her heart fluttering at his words. She glanced up slightly, looking at the

reflection of Jonathan’s profile on the car window. His features were handsome, with a smoothly

sculpted jawline. Even in an effortless shift of gaze, he exuded captivating charm.

Swallowing her cake, her voice was low, “Since you can’t stick to the rules, there’s no point in havingnovelbin

them.”

Jonathan shot a glance at her and chuckled, “In your dreams.”

Estelle shrugged and continued eating her cake.

After finishing all the treats, Estelle still wanted more. It was getting dark and she thought about asking

Emily to join her for dinner in town.

As she was thinking about where to go for dinner, Jonathan suddenly asked, “How about we go to Yum

Yum Bakery tonight? Courtney said she made a new flavored tea she wants us to try.”

Estelle replied, “No thanks, I’ve already made plans with Emily,”

Jonathan’s gaze flickered, “When did you make these plans?”

Estelle had actually just decided in her head, but she kept her poker face, “When you went to buy the

sweets.”

Jonathan looked a bit miffed, “You still owe me a meal, when are you going to pay me back?”

Only then did Estelle remember that she indeed owed him a meal.

She raised an eyebrow, “I’ll pick a time when we’re both free.”

Seeing her nonchalant response, Jonathan couldn’t help but chuckle, “Alright, just don’t forget.”

Having finished her sweets, Estelle started to feel sleepy again. Jonathan handed her his coat, “Take

another nap. I’ll wake you up when we get to town.”

“Okay” she murmured, leaning back in her seat and closing her eyes.

She slept soundly and when she woke up, it was already dark outside. She instantly snapped awake.

“She just woke up. We’ll be heading upstairs soon. Okay.”

Jonathan was on the phone, glancing at her.

Estelle froze, staring at him. Jonathan ended the call and handed her the phone, “That was Emily. She

was asking if you’re having dinner at home tonight.”

Estelle hesitated for a moment before realizing that he was holding her phone. She was about to frown

when she heard him scoff, “You’ve started lying now!”

Estelle finally realized that she had previously told Jonathan that she was having dinner with Emily, but

“Who said you could answer my phone?” Estelle bristled, glancing at the time. It was already 6 p.m.

They were in an underground parking lot, which explained why it was dark when she woke up.
