Chapter 998

The temperature in the room instantly soared, making her uncomfortably hot.

Ian, absolutely famished, paid heed to her injuries and didn't allow her to lift a finger.

Having served in the army, his core strength was formidable, and he could effortlessly hold her

suspended in the air for long durations.

Maja was already drained, her feeble attempts to push him away were met with a wall of resistance.

"Maja." His voice rasped as he called her name, pulling her even closer to him.

Maja had a strange feeling as if she felt like he was incredibly fond of her, to the point where he wished

to merge her into his very being.

That continued until the early hours of the morning when he finally halted.

He looked sated, but noticed her averted gaze, lips pressed tightly together in apparent discomfort, so

he casually asked,

"What's wrong?"

"My legs hurt."

That activity could be draining, leaving one's legs weak.

He placed her at the windowsill, while he knelt down and asked with concern, "Where does it hurt?"

He massaged her legs, starting from the soles and working his way up.

Maja was a strong woman, meticulous in her work and powerful in dealing with her partners.

However, her skin was incredibly sensitive, where even a slight pinch could leave a mark. As a result,

not a single spot on her body was unblemished.

Ian massaged her legs for ten minutes before she gently asked to clear her confusion,

"What are we, exactly?"

It felt as if she was just a woman available for him at his convenience.

She had no status, and to make matters worse, rumors of his affairs with other women were rampant.novelbin

He even allowed a woman free access to the Raymond Corporation which was yet another sign to the

wrong direction.

They were entangled in the room as if they were infatuated with each other. But what were they,

exactly?

Or was it just a man's way of feigning deep affection?

Ian remained kneeling, massaging her legs.

She was sitting on the windowsill, towering over him.

The dark sky was her backdrop, along with the moon that was about to set.

He continued kneading her legs for a while before asking, "What do you wish us to be?"

That question left Maja stumped.

If she had enough self-confidence, she would express her wish to be his girlfriend and hope for a

formal relationship.

However, she lacked self-assurance, especially when Ian was clearly presented with better options.

Their past divorce and the three years of marriage where he barely acknowledged her presence made

her question how he could possibly love her just because they had slept together.

Her silence was interpreted differently by Ian.

Despite her flushed face due to their recent intimacy, and her apparent satisfaction, her heart was still

occupied by a man named Patric.

She had met him previously, and who knew what had transpired between them.

Jealousy spread through him like a rampant vine, causing his heart to ache.

His hand slowly moved up and down her leg, relishing the smoothness under his palm. After a while,

he calmly said, "It's late, let's get some sleep."

The topic was once again sidestepped.

They feared that any further discussion on that topic might cause one of them to lose their composure

which could then result in a change in the soothing atmosphere.

Maja, clutching a towel, withdrew her foot from his grasp.

She struggled to steady herself as she got off the windowsill.

Ian steadied her and noted her attempt to push him away, his face instantly turned stern.

"Every time it's the same. You turn cold right after, Maja. Are you the heartless one, or am I?"

Maja remained silent, leaning against the wall for support as she tried to leave.

Ian was furious and swiftly closed the gap between them, pushing her against the wall and lifting her off

the ground in the process.

Fearing she might fall, Maja instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist.

With her back against the cold wall, she didn't look at him but calmly said, "Put me down."

Ian, enraged, ripped off her freshly donned nightgown, and resumed their previous activities.

"It's not dawn yet."

"My back hurts."

Ian immediately cradled her in his arms, ensuring she wasn't leaning against the wall. That position

made her completely reliant on him.

"Then don't lean on the wall."

"It’s not like I want to do it."

Regrettably, he didn't pay heed to her words.

With her head buried in his neck, Maja didn't say anything further and calmed herself down.

Finally, when it ended, she didn't even have the strength to open her eyes.

It was six in the morning when Ian held her in his arms, drying her hair, and cleaning her up to ensure

she was clean before placing her on the bed.

He turned on the air conditioning, adjusting it to a comfortable temperature before heading to his study.

Despite not getting any sleep, he was still full of energy.

Jeff usually arrived at Greenfield Gardens around five-thirty and waited for Ian to wake up.

When he arrived, he was about to knock on the door but heard sounds he shouldn't have and quickly

retreated downstairs.

Upon seeing Ian emerge, he followed him to his study.

"Sir, Omar is still locked up."

Thinking of Maja's injuries, a fierce look crossed Ian's eye.

"Beat him up, let him lay in bed for a few months before letting him out."

That was a clear declaration of enmity towards the Casson family.

Without asking anything further, Jeff immediately made a phone call.

The bodyguards guarding Omar didn't hesitate a bit and started beating him up.

Omar was a tough guy; he didn't scream in pain but kept cursing Ian.

"F*** you, Ian! I'll kill your entire family next time!"

Even when he passed out, his body covered in bruises and several broken ribs, he was still cursing

Ian.

The bodyguards dumped him at a hospital before reporting back to Greenfield Gardens.
