Chapter 996

"Omar's work?"

His voice was laced with a chilling undertone, ready to turn around and confront the man!

Maja quickly grabbed his hand, wincing in pain at her own action.

Ian halted, scooping her up in his arms and striding towards his car.

Once in the vehicle, he raised the privacy partition, signaling to Jeff to drive.

Jeff promptly drove towards Greenfield Gardens.

In the back of the car, Ian ripped open Maja's collar to better assess the bruises on her shoulder.

The entire area was covered in a deep purple color, a testament to Omar's cruelty.

"I have some medicinal liquor for bruises at my place, but it might sting a bit,"

His gaze was absolutely fixated on her marred skin as he uttered these words.

Feeling uncomfortable because of how close they were at that time, Maja retracted slightly.

Ian said nothing, creating a respectable distance between them.

The atmosphere turned somber.

Upon reaching Greenfield Gardens, he exited the car first and then opened the door for her.

Maja's collar was completely torn open, she had to clutch her chest to avoid any indecent exposure.

Once they reached the second floor, he provided her with pajamas to change her clothes.

Both were covered in mud.

Ian even adjusted the water temperature in the bathroom, advising her, "Take a shower first, then we'll

apply the medicinal liquor."

Maja saw her reflection in the mirror, the lower half of her body covered in yellow mud, her clothes innovelbin

disarray, hair loose and unkempt. She almost resembled a ghost in that condition.

She quickly stepped under the hot water, intending to wash her hair as well.

But the pain was too acute as she lifted her arm, causing her shoulder to throb sharply.

She lost grip of the shampoo bottle, which clattered onto the floor.

In her current state, she was completely bare. Bending over to pick up the bottle would cause her back

wounds to ache, but she kept on trying to retrieve it.

After several failed attempts, she still couldn’t retrieve the shampoo bottle.

Hearing the commotion, Ian pushed open the bathroom door.

The room was filled with hazy steam, her pale skin contrasting sharply against the purple bruises.

He strode over, picking up the bottle from the floor and squeezed some into his palm, directing her to a

small stool as he told her,

"Sit down."

Maja's face flushed, wanting to cover her modesty. But considering their past intimate encounters, it

seemed too pretentious.

But the situation was quite peculiar!

She reached out to grab a towel hanging nearby, even a slight cover would provide some comfort and

relieve the uneasiness.

But any movement involving her arm caused her to wince in pain, causing her to stumble forward and

into his arms.

Ian's body stiffened momentarily, inhaling the faint scent emanating from her.

When was the last time they were intimate?

It seemed like a long time ago.

His hands instinctively rested on her waist.

As always, she was slender and her body was tender as if she would snap under his touch.

She seemed to have lost more weight.

Maja felt his hands on her waist, her body froze as if it was paralyzed.

The shower water continued to run, filling the room with more steam. Both remained silent, awaiting the

other's next move.

After a while, Ian finally broke the silence by again saying, "Sit down, don't move around."

Maja lowered her lashes, no longer concerned about the towel, she sat on the stool he brought over.

He squeezed some shampoo into his palm again, his gaze lingering on her smooth back, then placed

his hands on her head, washing her hair.

The more he washed, the angrier and frustrated he became.

Her heart belonged to someone else, and she even ran to her first love when Ian was in trouble, what

was he doing actually at that moment?

Playing second fiddle?

Being a lapdog?

His hands paused, unintentionally applying more force, pulling her hair and causing her to hiss in pain.
