Chapter 978

Maja swallowed her stomach medication, her forehead slick with cold sweat.

Zoey glanced at the rearview mirror, pondering momentarily before speaking, "Mr. Pennyfeather,

there's a rumor going around lately. It's said that Mr. Raymond is involved with the daughter of the

Sanders family from overseas. And Mr. Raymond won this time, and everyone's talking about him."

A smirk tugged at Maja's lips. So, he had already won.

Despite her constant worry about his situation, when she knew he had won, she felt no surprise at all.

Of course, it was only fitting for him to sit on his throne of glory.

Seeing no instructions from her, Zoey pressed on the accelerator.

On returning to Rosewood Manor, Maja spotted the wolf sitting formally on the sofa in the living room.

However, she didn't know it was a wolf just yet, having always believed it was a dog.

"Rocky."

She called out. Rocky tilted his head, ignoring her call in a dignified manner.

For some reason, Maja thought it bore a striking resemblance to Ian.

She asked Maria, "What has it been eating recently?"

"Only imported beef from overseas. This dog is quite picky."

Maja gave a half-smile, a glint of warmth in her eyes.

"After all, it's a dog raised by Ian. It must have been fed well before."

Rocky shook its body, stretching lazily.

Maria's eyes shone with fondness, "Ms. Pennyfeather, to be honest, I've never seen such a huge dog

before. I don't know where Mr. Raymond got it from, and no one can tell what breed it is."

At that moment, Rocky leaped off the sofa, landing with a hunter's grace.

Maja, feeling under the weather due to her upset stomach, spoke in a low tone from her seat on the

sofa.

"Regardless of the breed, it's quite likeable and intelligent."

As she lay down, Rocky tilted its head to watch her.

Maja felt comforted. After resting for an hour, the pet hospital called her, saying she could take Coco

home.

She quickly got up and went out to pick up Coco.

Coco needed home rest, but at least there didn't seem to be any major problems. Upon seeing Maja,

Coco almost crashed through the glass door in excitement.

Maja paid the remaining medical fees, thanked the doctor again after hugging Coco, and brought her to

the car.

However, since the moment Coco got a whiff of Maja's scent, its fur had been standing on end, a sign

of danger.

Maja brought it back to Rosewood Manor.

As soon as Coco walked in the door, it saw an animal three times its size.

So tall, so muscular, and so intimidating.

Coco was scared stiff and hid behind Maja.

Maja patted its head, "Coco, I brought a companion for you to play with because I was afraid you'd be

bored. Aren't you touched?"

Coco was too scared to move, really.

Its body stiffened as if it had forgotten how to walk.

Rocky walked over gracefully, circling Coco.

For a moment, Maja thought she saw a look of disdain in Rocky's eyes as if to say, "It's only your good

luck that you get to live under the same roof as me."

She found it amusing and shook her head slightly.

Coco whined softly, afraid that making too much noise would anger this mysterious creature.

Maja unfastened its leash, but instead of running around the house like it usually would, Coco stayed

close to her, afraid it would be left alone if she let go.

For two days, Coco remained like this.

With no other choice, Maja called Ian.

But he didn't answer.

Looking at the disconnected call, her eyelashes drooped in disappointment, and she dialed Jeff's

number.

"Jeff, the big dog Ian sent last time doesn't get along with Coco. Can you come and pick it up when you

have time?"

Jeff glanced at the man sitting in the office chair, unsure of what to do.

"Miss Pennyfeather, the boss is still in a meeting. I'll ask him when he's done."

After saying that, he hung up.novelbin

"Boss, Miss Pennyfeather wants you to take Rocky back."

Ian stared at the files in his hands without saying a word.

Just when Jeff thought he wouldn't say anything, he put down the files, "You go and pick it up."

His tone was indifferent, his face expressionless.

Jeff was a bit taken aback. According to the boss's usual personality, he should have kept Rocky at

Rosewood Manor to maintain a connection with Miss Pennyfeather.

But now, he was calmly asking him to take it back. Was this a sign that he wanted to sever all ties?
