Chapter 941

"At the moment, we're not dealing with many artists."

Maja typed emotionlessly.

Ian saw her open a chat window with Shawn and send over a message.

[See you at the office tomorrow, I'll fill you in on the plan.]

Shawn replied immediately, like he was just waiting for her message.

[Okay, Ms. Pennyfeather.]

He even added a shy emoji, which pissed Ian off.

"Maja, you know what this emoji means, right?"

Ian wasn't fond of chatting, let alone understanding emojis.

But this shy smiley face was just too obvious, anyone can understand what it meant.

Yet, Maja didn't get it!

"What does this mean?"

Ian was taken aback by her question, thinking she's playing dumb.

Then, Maja opened up a chat window with Elvis.

Ian stayed silent for a few minutes before saying, "He likes you, doesn't he?"

She thought he's talking about Elvis and denied it immediately: "No way, don't talk nonsense."

Ian finally got what Jeff meant: without a healthy body, he can't do anything.

All he can do now was trash talk his love rival.

"Shawn is quite scheming, sending messages to his boss late at night."

"I messaged him first."novelbin

His argument was shut down with this statement.

He felt suffocated, unable to swallow or spit out the feeling.

He took off his headphones, slowly crawled back to bed, and silently covered himself with the blanket.

Maja didn't pay him any mind and continued typing.

The moment Ian laid down, he regretted it a bit, their rare time together just got spoiled.

But he didn't want to get up either, so he intentionally made some noise, like dropping his phone on the

floor.

"Maja, could you pick up my phone?"

Maja didn't hear him with her headphones on.

Ian entertained himself for nearly ten minutes, but seeing her not moving, he had to pick up his phone

from the floor himself.

At one in the morning, Maja finally shut her laptop.

Ian thought she's coming to bed, and he got a little excited.

But Maja just walked out of the room.

He thought she's returning the laptop, but half an hour passed and she's still not back.

He called Jeff, who told him Maja had already left.

"Ms. Pennyfeather said she’d be busy, she saw you're also cooperating, so she decided to take a break

for a few days."

Ian's face darkened instantly, and he hung up.

By now, Maja was back at Rosewood Manor, too tired to keep her eyes open. During her work earlier,

she messaged everyone who was at the dinner party in the private room to inform her when they got

home, but she still hadn't heard from Zoey yet.

This was unlike Zoey.

Maja was about to call Zoey, but Cornelia called her instead.

"Ms. Pennyfeather."

Cornelia's breath was heavy, and Maja can tell she's breaking down from her voice.

"Cornelia, tell me where you are; I'll come find you."

Cornelia sent Maja a location with trembling hands, and Maja rushed over with two bodyguards from

Rosewood Manor.

When they got there, they found Cornelia kneeling in the middle of the road, with traffic police

maintaining order.

Maja got out of the car and walked briskly towards Cornelia.

Closer up, she saw two bodies not far away, they were still uncovered, but from the license plate, Maja

knew they were Cornelia's parents.

Her heart clenched instantly, and she instinctively held Cornelia tight.

Police were maintaining order at the scene.

At two in the morning, there weren't many cars on the road, but there were still many bystanders taking

pictures.

At the same time, the car accident had been reported by the media. The car was hit by a truck, and the

car caught fire after the collision. The truck driver didn't attempt to save anyone, nor did he try to move

his truck, he just watched the flames.

Truck drivers usually had hefty insurance policies, if they killed someone, the insurance company

would compensate, so these drivers weren't afraid of accidents. Sometimes, if the person they hit

wasn't dead, they might run over them a few more times because compensating for a one-time death

was cheaper than covering hospital bills.

Cornelia was held tight by Maja and can't say a word.

She chose to call Maja at this time, showing that in her heart, Maja was the only person she can rely

on.

Maja, as a bystander, was already shaking at the sight of this tragedy, let alone the fact that the two

people were Cornelia's parents.

She didn't even know how to comfort her.

Half an hour later, a few luxury cars stopped next to Cornelia and Maja.

Omar, dressed in casual clothes, got out of one of the cars.

"Maja, let her go!"

His distaste for Maja was obvious, he even wanted to kick her away.
