Chapter 908

Chapter 908

The ground started to shake again, and rocks began to tumble down from the top of the tunnel. Maja

could only brace herself and help lan up, trying to find a place to take cover. But the tunnel was

spotless, without any tables or chairs. The occasional doors they found led to sheer cliffs, scaring the

living daylights out of her. She understood even more the difficulty lan faced in leaving markers along

the journey.

Following the markers outside, the ground shook even more violently. But before them was a door

that required a password. In this mountain, they could only go in, but not out. Freedom was just behind

this door, but if the password was entered incorrectly, they would be trapped here forever, unless they

chose to jump off the cliff, leaving their fate up in the air.

Ian couldn’t go on any longer.

Tears welled up in Maja’s eyes. She felt the blood on her hands. It was lan’s blood. Ian held her from

behind, his sweat from the pain soaking his hair.

He held her tightly, as if it was their last moments together. “Maja, watch out!”

He quickly pushed her away as a large rock fell from above, hitting him squarely on the head.

“lan!” Maja quickly tore a strip of cloth from her clothes, pressing it hard against his wound.

But the blood kept on flowing.

Maja’s fingers were trembling as she tried to cover his head wound and bang on the door at the same

time. “Open up! Open up!”

The earthquake continued, with no place to take cover. Another rock might roll down any time.

She quickly wiped off the blood on her hands and tried entering the password again and again. novelbin

“Invalid password.

“Invalid password.”

“You have one more try.”

Maja’s hand was shaking even more as she heard lan’s faint voice. “Maja.” He didn’t even have the

strength to stand up, just leaning against her. Maja’s tears fell thick and fast as she held him, staring at

the digital screen in front of her.

“Maja, it’s okay. The earthquake will be over soon.” His voice was barely a whisper, his head resting

against her chest.

Maja’s hands were covered in blood.

“Stop talking.” She bit her lip, her swollen eyes fixated on the door in front of her

Ian gave a small laugh, but winced in pain. “If I don’t say it now, I might not have the chance later.

Maja.”

But something suddenly appeared in Maja’s mind. She typed in a string of numbers. “Password

correct. Password correct.

The iron door slowly opened, and she stood there, pale as a ghost. Ian seemed just as surprised. How

did she know the password?

As soon as Maja came to her senses, she helped him up and headed outside. At least it was spacious

outside and there wouldn’t be any rocks rolling down. But many trees had fallen, and the earthquake

continued. Nowhere was safe, even without falling rocks, a falling tree could crush them just as easily.

“lan, hang in there.”

Ian remained quiet from the start.

Maja felt a lump in her throat, planning to help him climb over this small slope, to find a more level

ground. But suddenly, there was a loud explosion from the forest, followed by the sound of rushing

water. She looked up in surprise and saw a landslide, with floodwaters carrying trees and soil rushing

down the mountain. Almost instinctively, she held lan tightly in her arms.

The next second, the flood swept them away. Just before they were swept away, Maja felt a warm

touch on her lips.

lan gave a small laugh without saying anything. But his silence spoke volumes
