Chapter 839

Chapter 839

Alma was full of resentment, but she wasn’t the heir to the Casson family, so she couldn’t directly

leverage their connections to solve her problems.

Besides, with lan backing Maja up, she knew he wouldn’t just stand by if she tried anything.

She had originally planned to pressure Maja into bankruptcy through public opinion, but now she’d just

brought more trouble onto herself.

“That witch!” She cursed Maja angrily while hastily dialing a friend in North America.

“Ms. Sanders, remember when you told me your brother was in Greenfield? Could I trouble him to give

me a hand? My cousin’s woman is a sneaky one, she’s using public opinion to attack me.”

Ms. Sanders sounded rather annoyed.

“Alma, you still haven’t handled this mess?”

“Sorry, the woman’s a real piece of work.”

Ms. Sanders sighed and said, “Alright, I’ll get my brother to contact you. But just so you know, if you

want to become my sister–in–law, you’re going to have to step up your game.”

Alma felt humiliated by her words.

But when she thought of the man she loved, her heart skipped a beat.

If she could get rid of Maja and please Ms. Sanders, she could finally be with him.

She kept fantasizing about this scenario, unaware that the online uproar was escalating and that even

the Casson family was caught up in the mess. Soon she got a call from home.

She wasn’t someone of importance in the Casson family, and causing such trouble would definitely get

her scolded.

“I’ll handle it soon. Mom, don’t worry. By this afternoon, all this buzz will die down.”

“Alma, please don’t drag the Casson family into this mess. If the higher–ups take notice, it’ll affect us

too. Everyone needs to lay low right now.”

“I know; I’ll calm things down as soon as possible.”

After hanging up, Alma immediately went to find Beck.

Maja didn’t emerge from her room until 9 in the morning. When she came downstairs, she saw Maria

and lan chatting.

“Mr. Raymond, how’s the soup?”

“Good.”

Seeing them getting along so well made Maja uncomfortable.

“Mr. Raymond, you should leave.”

She said this without hesitation. Seeing that his cheeks weren’t as flushed, she figured his fever had

subsided. Jeff had also arrived, apparently to bring lan some clothes.

lan put down his spoon and tried to stand, but he wobbled and clung to his head, looking like he might

faint any second.

Maja’s face darkened. Was he planning to stay?

Jeff quickly spoke up.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, our president is still weak. He probably needs to rest here for a couple more days.

To apologize for the inconvenience, we brought some gifts.”

He pointed towards the corner, where several large boxes sat. They were obviously full of luxury

goods.

Given the gifts and their polite demeanor, it would seem ungracious for Maja to insist on kicking them

out, especially considering lan was still unwell.

She felt a pang of discomfort.

As she sat at the dining table, lan eagerly offered her a bowl of soup.

“Maja, this is really tasty; try it.”

Maja felt irritated and got up.

“You have it.”

She picked up her handbag, planning to go to the office.

As she was changing shoes at the door, lan followed her out, asking casually, “When will you be

back?”

It seemed like he planned to wait for her.

Maja’s anxiety intensified. Before, when Grandpa Holden invited him to stay at Rosewood Manor, he

avoided it like the plague. Now he didn’t want to leave.

“I’m not sure and I’ve been pretty busy lately.”

She didn’t want to argue with him. Work was really wearing her down. novelbin

“Is it about the Casson family? I’ve already talked to their people.”

Maja was surprised. No wonder the Casson family had been quiet
