Chapter 831

Chapter 831

He felt totally screwed, couldn’t hold his emotions in check and was utterly embarrassed.

“I’m not sure.”

That was Maja’s response, instantly chilling him out.

He looked down at her, thankful she didn’t mention any man’s name but said “I’m not sure“.

His heart finally got some relief, and he held her tightly.

“So, would you give it a shot, liking me?”

Since he had relaxed, his tone became gentler.

“Mr. Raymond, you don’t really like me that much.”

No sooner had she spoken did he let out a cynical chuckle.

The streetlights at night weren’t bright, but his skin was naturally radiant, so even in such dim lighting,

he seemed to glow.

He gazed down at her face, not caring about pedestrians around, just staring at her.

His emotions were as deep as thick ink.

“Maja, you keep saying I don’t genuinely like you. It’s actually you who doesn’t want to admit I like you,

so you’ve been denying my feelings from the get–go. You’re avoiding me and shirking responsibility for

what happened between us because you want to ditch me.”

So the words she just said were actually meant for herself.

lan found this both amusing and ironic.

“It’s not that I don’t like you, but that you don’t like me, that’s why you’re saying this.”

Maja didn’t reply. She looked down at her phone, making an excuse.

“It’s getting late, and I should go in.”

She turned to leave but heard him say again.

“Who’s the guy who gave you the ring? Do you like him? You do have someone you like, and you just

don’t want to tell me. When we got married, you just wanted to help the Pennyfeather family through

their tough times. Even when we slept together, it was only because I made you feel good. Maja, I find

you even cooler than me. If I don’t seek you out, you’ll never take the initiative. I say I like you, and you

outright deny me. What am I to you.”

Maja stiffened, feeling his words like a knife stabbing her heart.

This wasn’t the first time lan asked her this and she felt heartbroken.

Then, he held her again.

“At least you’re satisfied with my looks, right?”

Even if Maja hated him, she couldn’t deny this.

No one could possibly be dissatisfied with his looks.

lan’s attractiveness was universally acknowledged by men and women alike. If he hadn’t had a scandal

with Carlene in his younger years, probably more men would have confessed to him.

But his temper was too volatile. If she really pissed him off, she might end up in the hospital.

His embrace was warm. Maja lowered her head, feeling his kisses on her ear.

“If you only like my looks, we can be friends with benefits.”

“lan, I’d rather be with someone I like.”

“Then try to like me.”

lan let her go and straightened her collar.

“Maja, I really like you. Whether you believe it or not doesn’t matter, you should go in.”

She wore his suit because talking to him made her forget to take it off.

When she stood at the door of Elvis‘ room, she remembered this coat was his.

She hurriedly went downstairs, thinking he had left, only to find him smoking under the streetlight.

There weren’t many people around. His shadow on the ground seemed to cover the whole street.

The flickering streetlight seemed to trap him in its brightness.

Though only a few minutes had passed, Maja felt as though he had become more handsome.

Being handsome was definitely an advantage. Even if he did many things wrong, one look at his deepnovelbin

eyes, and she’ll be spellbound.

lan seemed to sense her approach, and his gaze was fixed on her, his light pupils flickering with a faint

glow.

Maja quickly walked over and shoved the suit into his hand.

The noisy surroundings suddenly quieted down. he didn’t say anything, but she could hear her

heartbeat pounding like thunder.

This feeling was both terrifying and gut–wrenching.

Yet lan’s hand was still tightly gripping her wrist.

‘Maja, try and see you can like me. I’ll only be good to you from now on.”
