When lan saw the picture, he nearly jumped out of his skin.
He called Tyler, but Tyler had seen Maja leave first, so when asked where the two were, he could only
reply, “Just left, I have no idea.”
“Were they together?”
It’s common knowledge that Beck was a playboy with a list of ex–girlfriends.
What did it mean that Maja was hanging out with a guy like that?
He felt a fire rising in his chest. He’d tried several times to ask her out, but she was always “busy.”Yet she found the time to grab a meal with Beck!
Jealousy surged within him, and he couldn’t help but call Maja again.
But this time, Maja was back at Rosewood Manor, having a bite to eat and ready to hit the sack.
Her stomach was bothering her, and she was tired. All she wanted was to curl up in bed.
lan called once, then twice.
Maja was irritated. This man was so fickle, constantly changing his mood. What the hell did he want?!
“Mr. Raymond.”
“Maja, come out. I need to talk to you.”
Maja glanced at the time on her phone. It was nearly 1 am..
Only lan would have the nerve to bother people at this hour.
She took a deep breath. She could feel her teeth grinding!
For some reason, she got out of bed, got dressed, and drove to the entrance of Greenfield Gardens.
But lan wasn’t at Greenfield Gardens. He was out drinking with Tyler.
Tyler was dramatically describing the way Beck had looked at Maja.
“Did you see the picture I sent you? The way Beck was looking at her like he was totally smitten, he
must be her boyfriend!”
“Buzz off!”
Tyler, not believing him, pulled out the picture. “In the quiet of the night, a man and a woman in a placenovelbin
like this, Maja looking a bit weak, like she was seeking comfort from a man. And she didn’t come to find
you, lan, who’s been so close to her recently. Have you been cast aside?”
lan’s face darkened, and a wave of unease swept over him.
So he drank a bit more than he should have.
Half an hour later, he put down his glass.
“No way!”
After he said it, he looked at Tyler.
Tyler looked puzzled, “No way, what?”
“There’s no way she’s lost interest in me.“.
He lowered his head and started comparing himself and Beck.
“We come from similar backgrounds, but his reputation is worse than mine. Plus, he has a ton of ex–
girlfriends. Maja doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who likes to make life difficult for herself.”
“Sure, the Beck has a lot of exes, but he’s never been married. You, on the other hand, are on your
second marriage. And whether you’re a man or a woman, that doesn’t exactly make you a catch.”
The word “second marriage” stung lan. He suddenly remembered, of course, Beck had never been
married.
He was left speechless, watching Tyler put an arm around his shoulder.
“You’ve been with her all this time, and she hasn’t pushed you away. I think she might still have
feelings for you.”
“Really?”
This bit of news was like a gift.
But then, lan remembered that Tyler had misled him into thinking Penny liked him, which had started
his interest in her.
So, he couldn’t completely trust Tyler’s words. He shouldn’t take them too seriously, just keep them inmind.
Just then, Maja called to say she was at the entrance of Greenfield Gardens.
lan squinted, instantly sobering up and grabbing his coat to leave.
Tyler called after him, “Just like that? Did she ask you out?”
lan paused, his posture radiating pride.
