Chapter 706

Chapter 706

Holden lashed lan twenty times consecutively before he felt his anger subsiding.

lan’s back was severely injured and bleeding.

Taking a deep breath, Holden was annoyed by the sight of this kid and knew the young man was

tough. He waved his hand impatiently, “Let him kneel outside, and none of you dare to give him a

coat.”

It was freezing cold outside, and lan was only wearing a shirt, plus his back was covered in wounds.

Any ordinary person would have died by now. The butler tried to stop it in fear, but Holden said, “This

lad is lucky. He won’t die.”

Without hesitation, lan got up and went outside to kneel.

The butler sighed helplessly in the hall, unable to persuade them.

It was snowing heavily outside, and he tried to hold an umbrella over lan but was stopped.

“Mr. Raymond, you should use the umbrella to shield you from the snow. When the snow melts, your

clothes will get wet, and you’ll catch a cold.” lan’s back was still straight, “No need.”

So the butler stood there alone, holding an umbrella, keeping him company.

But he was old, and by the middle of the night, he couldn’t hold on any longer.

lan quickly had the other servants take the butler to rest.

On the other side, since lan left, Maja had been leaning against the chair back as if paralyzed.

The carriage still retained the breath and warmth, and the tremor was still in her bones.

She adjusted her skirt before opening the carriage door.

The cold wind rushed in, and she realized how crazy she and lan had been.

Just a few meters away from home, they actually did it here.

She couldn’t help but hold her forehead. When she got to the door, a servant opened it for her.

Maja didn’t know the servants here. She just nodded and went to the master bedroom upstairs.

After sweating profusely, she took a hot bath.

When she lay down on the bed, she remembered the call from Zoey, so she called back.

Zoey had returned from the hospital. She woke up as soon as she was sent there. The doctor gave her

painkillers and said it was nothing serious.

Now she was back in her rented house, looking at her and Murray’s things, she felt incredibly relieved.

“Mr. Pennyfeather.”

“Zoey, are you feeling better?”

“I’m fine. I think it was something I ate. I’m already home.”

Being asked by Maja, she felt warm inside.

After hanging up, she started to clean up the scattered stuff.

She used to travel often for her job and rarely stayed in Greenfield. It was only after she started

working for Maja that she stopped traveling frequently.

Although she and Murray had bought a house, it would be another year before they could move in. So

they got engaged first and would prepare for the wedding once they had the house.

Zoey wasn’t feeling well, but she forced herself to clean the small rental house happily, changed the

water for the flowers she had planted in her wheat field, and then went to bed.

Lately, Murray had been working overtime, and both of them were working hard for the mortgage.

Zoey’s heart was filled with joy. As she lay on the bed, she couldn’t help but take out that business

card.

Just before she fainted, she remembered someone hitting her car. She had to find this person for

compensation.

So, she dialed the number without hesitation.

Zoey was very capable at work and had a strong sense of self.

There was no answer on the other end, so she dialed again.

Fitch had just sent Mia home, and Mia was causing a mess at home.

His phone rang, but he didn’t answer.

He was busy right now.

But the caller kept calling, and when he saw the unknown number, he answered.

“What is it?”

“Sir, you hit my car today. I will send you the compensation amount by text. If you need to meet, please

call me in advance.”

Lately, everyone at the company had been very busy.

Hearing the detached female voice on the other end, Fitch suddenly thought of the woman slumped

over the steering wheel.

But because it was too dark, he didn’t notice her looks.

He didn’t answer, and Zoey’s tone got colder.

“Sir? Are you planning to dodge responsibility?”

If he dared to dodge, she would call the police now.

Fitch frowned. Why was this woman talkative?

“How much do you

need?”

“I’ve asked the repair shop, and it will cost twenty thousand dollars. I’ll send you my bank account

number.”

After saying that, Zoey hung up and immediately sent her bank account number.

Fitch had plenty of money and didn’t want to be entangled with women, so he transferred the money to

her directly.

Zoey transferred the money to Maja and then contacted the person in charge to send the car for

repair.

After knowing the situation, Maja didn’t say anything, just glanced at the time. novelbin

It was already one in the morning. Had lan’s meeting not ended yet?
