Chapter 644

Chapter 644

The phone was abruptly hung up, leaving Maja with no choice but to proceed with the soft furnishing

installation.

She had personally selected the furnishings and had already negotiated the prices with the

manufacturers.

Now she was on–site, directing the workers to move the soft furnishings into place.

The whole process was expected to take three days. By the time lan came to see the progress again,

the renovation of Greenfield Gardens would be complete.

Maja let out a sigh of relief.

Three days later, she called lan again.

lan hadn’t been in touch with her since he’d threatened to fire her.

At the time of Maja’s call, lan was in a meeting.

Upon hearing about Greenfield Gardens, he frowned slightly, “Hold on.”

When he said “hold on“, Maja assumed he would be coming over soon.

But she ended up waiting for him at the entrance of Greenfield Gardens for three hours, nearly freezing

in the cold before lan finally strolled up casually.

He was dressed in a black suit, holding an umbrella against the falling snow, and had a coat draped

over his shoulders.

Maja stood at the entrance of Greenfield Gardens, her nose red from the cold, her body shivering

occasionally.

lan closed his umbrella, put it in his car, and walked up to Maja.

“Let’s go.”

Maja was so cold her teeth were chattering, and her feet were nearly numb.

But lan paid no mind to her and walked several steps ahead on his own.

Maja struggled to keep up.

The entrance was a double door design with an electronic lock.

“Mr. Raymond, please set a password.”

Her teeth were chattering from the cold, and her cheeks were flushed red.

lan glanced at her, and Maja quickly looked away, thinking that he didn’t want her to see his password.

He used his birthday as the password.

Once inside, he looked around at the renovated house, pacing a bit.

Maja followed him closely and asked, “Mr. Raymond, are you satisfied?”

“Barely,” he replied tersely.

Maja’s face darkened, “If there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, I can fix it.”

lan sat down on the sofa, looking at Maja.

Her cheeks were flushed, and her body was shaking. She seemed to have a fever.

Maja had been working tirelessly these past few days, hardly sleeping, busy with planning Meetman’s

future and the renovation of Greenfield Gardens. She had hoped to hand over the house to lan

smoothly, but now he was merely “barely” satisfied?

Ian hadn’t expected Maja to be so serious about this. He frowned slightly as he received another callnovelbin

from the executives. He had another meeting in half an hour, so he got up to leave.

“How much of the design fee is left to be paid to you?”

“That depends on how much you’re willing to pay,” Maja mumbled, looking down.

lan thought for a moment, then wrote her a check for 500,000.

“Is that enough?”

She reached out to take it, but he suddenly pulled it back.

“Did you become my interior designer because we’ve slept together?”

Maja’s eyelashes fluttered, but she couldn’t find a response.

He held out the check again, his tone even colder.

“Next time, don’t resort to such methods. It’s boring.”

Maja didn’t take the check, but instead looked up at lan.

“Why did you do what you did that night, Mr. Raymond?”

She was referring to the time lan had kissed her in a narrow alleyway. The light was dim, and from her

perspective, she could see his tense back.

At that moment, his hair was close to her chin, and when she lowered her head, she could smell the

fragrance of the shampoo he often used. “You made me feel comfortable, but now I feel nothing for

you, no feelings at all.”

Maja felt as if her heart had been squeezed. She suddenly came to a realization.

What was she doing?

Just because the Raymond family had treated him poorly and he didn’t know how to love, did that

excuse his past actions?

lan’s words only served to solidify Maja’s wavering determination.

She silently accepted the check.

lan saw that she didn’t say anything, and he felt somewhat helpless.

“Next time, don’t devalue yourself so much. It’s just a renovation opportunity, there’s no need to use

your body as a bargaining chip.”

His words were like a slap in the face.

Maja suddenly realized how ridiculous her moment of uncertainty had been.
