Maja was speechless, turning around and heading back to the living room.
She glanced at the bedroom, the door wasn’t fully shut, just a sliver of light peeking through the crack.
But the lights in the living room were off. It was a good thing that the sofa was big enough and the
availability of air conditioning meant that it wouldn’t get too cold in that room.
She lay down, grabbed a cushion to put under her head, and fell asleep just like that.
But lan couldn’t sleep as his head was pounding.
He even felt dizzy.
“Penny!”
He called out her name.
Maja woke up instantly, heading to the bedroom door, only to find him rubbing his temples.
“Do you have any painkillers?”
She looked in the medicine box in the room, but there weren’t any, so she decided to check the nearby
pharmacy for the medicine.
However, at that late hour, there were hardly any pharmacies–open.-
But seeing lan in such pain, she had to go and look.
Greenfield was already in the throes of winter; she wrapped her scarf around her neck and headed
down a nearby alley after leaving the hotel. Luckily, the pharmacy was still open.
She grabbed two boxes of painkillers and was about to leave, when a group of drunken men stumbled
in.
She instinctively stepped away, trying to distance herself from them.
But seeing Maja’s beauty, their eyes lit up.
They sufrounded her, two of them from the front and two from behind.
“Coming to the pharmacy this late, are you buying contraceptives?”
It was two in the morning, indeed very late.
Maja’s face fell, she tried to move to the left, but they followed, clearly not planning on letting her go
easily.
Their lecherous eyes were fixed on her face.
“Now that you’ve bought the drugs, why not play with us a bit more, you can always take them
afterward.”
One of them was about to touch Maja’s face, but she slapped his hand away.
“Bug off!”
But the next second, he viciously grabbed her hair.
“This is your punishment for disobedience!”
Maja gritted her teeth, biting hard on the man’s hand, and pushed them away, trying to run.
“You dare bite me! I’ll teach you a lesson today!“.
She hadn’t run far when she bumped into someone. As she looked up, she realized that the person in
front of him was lan.
lan had followed her down?!
“Mr. Raymond!”
She called out, grabbing him and trying to run together.
But seeing another man by her side, those men got even more excited.
“So, you’re here with him, no wonder you’re running so fast.”
“Handsome guy, lend your girlfriend to us for a while.”
Worried that these men would aggravate lan’s wound, Maja quickly grabbed him, “Mr. Raymond, let’s
go back
But even before she could finish the sentence, lan kicked out fiercely.
In less than a minute, all four men were writhing on the ground, some of them even lost their teeth.
Maja watched in shock, unable to react.
But lan was nonchalant, glancing at the ground.
Maja immediately went to check lan’s head wound, luckily, he was fine.
“Mr. Raymond, let’s go back to the hotel.”
lan eyed her, “Why are you so cowardly?”
Maja tightened her lips, why was his behavior still so infuriating even after losing his memory!
“I’m worried that they might bring more people.”
Before she could finish, she saw about a dozen men charging over from a distance, steel pipes in their
hands. Maja immediately took out her phone to call the police, but lan pushed her away, “Keep your
distance.”
She was anxious, knowing she would only be a burden if she stayed. Although she knew how to use
firearms, her hand–to–hand combat skills were basic at best, let alone fighting against men with steel
pipes!

In her haste, she even tripped and scraped her palms.
But by the time Maja brought security, the dozen men were all lying on the ground. lan was holding a
steel pipe in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
The men were all kneeling on the ground, wailing.
“We won’t dare to commit such heinous acts ever again, we promise, please let us go!”
Suddenly, Maja remembered that lan had been in the military.
The men all helped each other up, limping away as if they were being chased by ghosts.
Maja watched as lan threw the steel pipe away. His stare was like a wolf, but his eyes softened when
they landed on her.
“You look quite a mess.”
She had tripped and fallen, her clothes were dirty, and there was a hole in the knee of her pants..
Ignoring herself, she went straight to him and circled around him to ensure that he wasn’t hurt, before
finally relaxing.
“Mr. Raymond, don’t be so reckless next time.”
lan flicked his cigarette butt into a trash can nearby, his gaze curious as it landed on Maja..
“Are you teaching me how to do things?”
“I wouldn’t dare.”
lan chuckled coldly and said,
“Understand your place. If you make another stupid decision, don’t bother coming back.“.
Even the people of the Raymond family wouldn’t dare to control him, who was she to try?
