Chapter 470

Chapter 470

Maja had secretly transferred her 35% stake to Zoey.

This sneaky move was part of her grand scheme. If the EverBest Group got wind of it, they’d definitely

smell a rat during the contract signing, knowing the shares came from her.

Honestly, Maja was playing with fire since there wasn’t anyone else she could trust apart from Zoey at

the moment.

If Zoey ran off with the shares, it would be for naught. Maja had another important contract with Samuelnovelbin

Brown, but she hadn’t spilled the beans about it yet.

The EverBest Group was going loco over this 35% stake news, and someone immediately filled

Carlene in.

“Ms. Shepard, if we can get this 35% stake, it means we’ve successfully taken over the Neilian Group.

You’d be the new head honcho, and they’d all dance to your tune.”

Carlene was practically buzzing with excitement. lan Kadn’t sent anyone to help her; she just hired two

consultants.

T

But these two were super efficient. They had already snapped up 16% of the shares, and now another

35% was being dangled in front of them.

Carlene was grinning like a Cheshire cat, itching to get back at Maja for making her look like a fool!

She took a deep breath and asked, “What’s the catch?”

“Well, the price tag’s a bit steep–double the original. To get all of it, it’s going to cost around 200 million

bucks.”

Carlene frowned. That was a lot of dough.

She’d just splashed out 60 million on a painting, only to become a laughing stock when it turned out to

be a fake. Now, everyone was saying Herbert was right for not falling for her. She couldn’t tell a real

painting from a fake one.

She was pissed as hell. All because of that woman, Maja! She was hell–bent on taking down the

Pennyfeather family.

Once she’s done with the Pennyfeathers, she was going after Penny.

lan was acting all weird last night, especially when Penny was about to kiss Samuel. He looked like he

was green with envy, which made Carlene feel

uneasy.

Then there was what Rita said about lan coming out of that woman’s room. Even though he explained,

since when was lan ever that considerate? Once the seed of doubt was planted, it started to grow.

“Ms. Shepard, that person sent another message. If we don’t agree, she’ll sell the shares to Maja.”

Sell to Maja?

No way!

Maja already owned 30% of the shares. If she got more, no one else’s stake would be bigger than hers.

She’d call the shots, and all Carlene’s efforts would be for nothing.

But it’s 200 million dollars, and it’s doubled!

The seller was clearly taking advantage of the situation.

She frowned. If she didn’t agree and the shares fell into Maja’s hands, her 10% stake would be

worthless.

She thought for a moment and decided to go to Edith and subtly hint at her financial predicament.

Edith was initially planning to invest a bit. After all, it meant making Maja, that insufferable woman,

suffer.

But the lawyer by her side quickly reminded her.

“Grandma Edith, the court is waiting. You might face a huge compensation.”

Edith had some cash in her personal account, but it was only a few million bucks. If it exceeded that,

she’d have to dip into the Raymond family’s funds.

But she was from a wealthy family, and they had prepared a hefty amount for her years ago.

Since she was as good a match as any for the Raymonds, she took a deep breath when she heard

what the lawyer said.

“Carlene, you go for it. Make sure that woman ends up penniless!”

Selena chimed in from the side.

“She’s really gone too far this time. I’ll pitch in too.”

Edith and Selena chipped in a total of 100 million dollars, which was no small sum for them.

Both of them were living off the Raymond family’s money without any income of their own.

Carlene left Raymond Mansion with a spring in her step, grinning from ear to ear.

It was as if Maja knew she had got the green light. She sent a message to rub salt into Carlene’s

wound.

“The game’s not over yet, but ! guarantee I won’t be the one crying at the end.”

When Carlene saw this, she was so mad that she felt dizzy.

Thinking about how that annoying woman had humiliated her in front of everyone, she couldn’t hold it in

any longer. She immediately contacted her people to buy the shares!

Soon, the EverBest Group responded to Maja, agreeing to buy her shares.

Maja smirked. She knew Carlene was the type to stop at nothing for revenge.

Hook, line, and sinker.
