Chapter 439

Chapter 439

She remembered him mentioning “haying an affair” in the parking lot that day. Now, she really felt like

she was having an affair with her boss.

And this boss had somehow managed to get her husband” transferred away.

But why would lan do something like this?

Maja didn’t think she was so irresistible that lan would fall for her instantly.

After all, he must have seen all sorts of women.

More importantly, everyone in Greenfield knew that he only had eyes for his girlfriend, Carlene.

He even risked everything, ditching it all here to make a name for himself on Wall Street, just to resist

an arranged marriage.

Would a guy like that fall for her?

Maja found the thought amusing. Women could be overly confident sometimes, and it often made them

look ridiculous.

Feeling a bit dizzy due to her knee injury, she moved slowly to sit down. novelbin

The room was quiet, with just her, lan, and a dog snoring on the balcony. Time seemed to drag on, so

she decided to turn on the TV. Coincidentally, a TV show starring Shawn Walsh was on.

lan’s eyebrows twitched slightly.

Maja immediately stood up and said, “I need to take a shower.”

After kneeling all afternoon, she was sweaty and uncomfortable.

She used this as an excuse and went into the bathroom.

“Don’t get the wound wet, lan reminded her, handing her a pair of shorts he had brought from the

hotel.

Maja found herself a casual shirt.

When she came out of the shower, she noticed that her knee was even more swollen, and lan was

busy working on his laptop.

Maja was surprised; she thought he had left.

How long was he planning to stay?

She glanced at her phone. It was already five in the afternoon; it was almost time for dinner.

“Mr. Raymond, are you hungry?”

Though Maja could cook, she didn’t do it often. She usually ordered takeout, as it was more

convenient.

However, with lan around, she was worried he might not be used to it.

lan glanced at her swollen knees; the broken skin looked quite serious,

Seeing that he didn’t respond, Maja wondered if he was up to something again.

But her knee hurt.

Seeing her frown, lan opened the drawer next to him.

“Do you have any ointment at home?”

As he said this, he suddenly paused.

Because there were two marriage certificates in the drawer.

Maja freaked out a bit. When lan went abroad, even though he wasn’t present, Holden managed to get

the marriage certificates through some astonishing means.

Since lan couldn’t possibly take these, the certificates were all with her.

She hadn’t really kept them safe; she had just casually thrown them into the drawer.

She quickly got up, grabbed the certificates, and hid them in a secret spot in her room before returning

to the living room.

lan hadn’t moved, maintaining his original posture. Seeing her marriage certificates, he truly realized

she was married now.

Tyler had analyzed before that she might be lying about being married since she didn’t wear a wedding

ring. Beautiful women maintaining married status in the workplace could avoid a lot of trouble.

But this also meant they couldn’t enjoy the benefits of being single.

Maja had entered the interior design industry on her own strength, without relying on any so–called

benefits.

lan slowly closed the drawer, his heart heavy as he recalled Maja desperately looking for her wedding

ring last week.

The TV was playing a Shawn’s show, which seemed to amplify the oppressive atmosphere.

When Maja came back, she asked, “I ordered takeout, but I’m not sure if you’ll like it.”

This was the first time she had ordered such expensive takeout because of lan.

She had never been so extravagant before.

As soon as she finished speaking, lan pulled her onto his lap.

Maja gently pushed him. “My knee hurts.”

His kiss was a bit frantic.

“It’s okay; you can stand,” he said.

In the following hours, Maja did just as he asked, standing quietly.
