Chapter 425

Chapter 425

“How long have you been working here?”

“Two years”

This meant she knew even before Ferris and Hattie Zimmer that the Neils lived in a villa and owned a

company in Greenfield. She just never let on. She must have been the one who tipped off Neil last

night.

Maja noticed that May Chandler’s skin was bruised underneath her sleeve. It seemed that Ferris had

never stopped abusing her.

May suddenly knelt down when she saw that Maja had nothing more to say.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, please don’t fire me.”

Maja was taken aback and quickly helped her up. “What are you doing?”

May lowered her head. “I know you don’t really like us.

Maja didn’t speak. Her impression of May was not deep. But seeing the small, frail woman with a face

full of hardship and skin covered in welts from being whipped, she felt a pang of sympathy.

1 don’t plan to fire you. Just cooperate with the police and give your statement.”

May, afraid that Maja would change her mind, quickly lowered her head and left.

Maja only rubbed her temples after she left.

May had been working here for two years, and Neil never realized that she was Ferris‘ wife.

As she was about to open a file, a message came from lan to her private number.

That meant the message was for lan’s wife.

Just a simple command.

[Keep it.]

Then, a transfer notification appeared on her phone–a whopping four million.

After a night, lan finally remembered to appease his wife in name.

Maja smirked, knowing what the money meant.

One was that it was a compensation for her ordeal last night.

Two, it was to shut her up so she wouldn’t complain to Holden, or else he wouldn’t be polite.

Maja’s eyes were calm.

[Mr. Raymond, if you need to sign divorce papers, I’m always ready.]

She had been kept in the dark all night, and lan didn’t see her face.

But he told Neil that he knew her character.

Why would he say that?

He didn’t know her at all, but he spoke as if she had made a big mistake. His words were almost

slanderous.

She wanted to confront lan and ask him what was wrong with her character, but it wasn’t necessary.

When lan saw her response, his eyes tightened.

She really could act as if she wasn’t the one who had been trying to seduce him.

He even suspected that the events of last night were a show she put on herself. Otherwise, why would

the kidnapper leave so easily?

His brows furrowed, and his eyes grew colder.

He tossed the phone aside without replying.

Maja didn’t expect a reply.

She worked until the evening, hearing that those involved in the company had been taken away for

questioning by the police, and her anger finally subsided a bit.

She wasnt without a temper.

She worked at the company until six in the evening, then went to Greenfield Gardens.

All she wanted to do now was finish the handover of the house as quickly as possible to avoid seeingnovelbin

lan.

Fortunately, there was only one problem with the decoration of the house: a pillar. Silverstone

Enterprises had a good reputation in the industry, so they were trustworthy

She took a tour of the second floor, where she had prepared a very large master bedroom for lan. After

all, this was the last house she designed, and she wanted to do her best.

She sent lan a text message from her work phone.

[Mr. Raymond, I noticed you’re quite good at painting when we were in Crystalbrook Valley. Do you

want me to prepare a separate painting room for you?]

lan was at Tyler Bennitt’s house at the moment. Tyler had invited some friends over for a small

gathering at his villa.

He held over a hundred of these gatherings each year, as he always liked to be where the action was.

“lan, isn’t Edith coming back soon? This is a painting I got last time. It was half done by Herbert, who

then had to leave the country unexpectedly, and the painting was sold. The person who gave me the

painting said that many painters had been asked, but none of them dared touch it. But I know you

would! I’ll give you this painting. You can complete the rest and give it to Edith as a birthday gift. How

about it?”

Tyler nudged lan with his elbow, showing off the painting like a treasure.

lan took the painting and had a look. It was indeed an original by Herbert.

Herbert was a free–spirited man. It was entirely possible for him to leave a painting half–finished.

His eyes sparkled for a moment, then he smiled and said, “Why not let Herbert’s last student finish the

painting?”

Tyler was intrigued, and even Fitch put down his wine glass from a distance.

Herbert’s paintings were very popular in the circle, and it was said that he had a closed–door disciple,

but no one knew the student’s name.

lan just smiled and didn’t say anything.

He stayed there for only half an hour, then left with the painting.

He rolled up the painting and took it back to the hotel.

Then he called Maja.

“Penny, come to the hotel. And bring your painting supplies.”
