Chapter 422

Chapter 422

She’d tried so hard not to step on his toes–wasn’t that enough?

Maja kept quiet, her head down.

The kidnapper hung up and kicked her.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, did you hear that? You’re worth nothing to your husband.”

A rough hand grabbed her hair, forcing her to look up.

The man studying her face swallowed hard.

“Damn, she is a looker. How can lan not appreciate such beauty?”

He hoisted her up, shoved a sack over her head, stuffed a rag–into her mouth, and carried her into the

factory.

Inside, Carlene was also bagged, but her mouth wasn’t gagged. She was crying.

“Let me go! Let me go!”

“What are you idiots waiting for? Let’s scram! lan’s going to be here any minute; you want to stick

around and get killed?” The man carrying Maja shouted. He’d been cocky on the phone with lan, but

that was all for the two million ransom.

They’d never seen that much money–enough to make them risk it all, even death.

But given the chance, who would choose to kick the bucket?

Maja was swallowed by the massive sack, which was pitch black inside.

But she could tell they were retreating. Besides Carlene’s sobs, the roar of a helicopter was clear.

These kidnappers were serious; they even had a chopper ready.

The last one to leave was the guy who’d carried Maja. Having seen her beauty, he felt like leaving

without doing something was a waste.

He removed the sack from Maja’s head and ripped her clothes off.

Maja’s eyes widened in terror as he leaned in to kiss her.

But another kidnapper stormed in. “Are you really ready to die for a piece of ass?”

The man in front of Maja cursed and shoved her away.

“Screw you! Lucky you. Otherwise, I would’ve killed you.”

He lit a torch and threw it inside:

The room was filled with hay, clearly prepared in advance.

The moment the fire touched the hay, it blazed.

Just a few minutes after the kidnappers left, lan kicked the door open. He’d heard Carlene’s cries.

“lan, lan!”

Carlene was shaking and hid under a sack.

lan’s bodyguards were busy trying to put out the fire, but there was too much hay and the smoke was

thick.

lan swept Carlene into his arms.

Carlene, with handprints on her cheeks, collapsed into his arms.

lan’s face was icy as he carried her out. novelbin

By then, Neil and the police had arrived.

Neil was panting every few steps. Seeing lan, he blurted out a question.

“Mr. Raymond, where’s Maja?”

Ian frowned. He hadn’t seen Maja inside.

When Neil saw Carlene in lan’s arms, he was consumed by rage.

lan ignored him. “My men should have put out the fire. If anyone was inside, they should be fine.”

Neil was shaking, watching Carlene cry in lan’s arms.

He limped towards the factory.

“If Mr. Raymond doesn’t care for Maja, then maybe you should divorce her.”

It was probably the first time Neil wanted lan to divorce Maja.

lan put Carlene in his car, surrounded by his helicopter. It was a bigger scene than the police.

Hearing Neil’s words, he laughed coldly.

“I’ve wanted to divorce her for a long time. If the Pennyfeathers had any guts, you would have talked to

Grandpa Holden about it.”

He got into the car and rolled down the window, showing his cold jawline..

“I know your daughter better than you do. As long as she’s alive, that’s all that matters.”

With that, he drove away.

The helicopter also left.

Neil stood there with a fire of angeriburning in his heart. He used all his strength to keep from fainting.

He was already very weak. He’d come here despite his illness, driven by sheer willpower.

If anything happened to Maja, he might be next.

Neil slowly walked towards the abandoned factory.
