Chapter 400

Chapter 400

“Scared of what? The ones should be scared of are that pair of cheating dogs!”

Maja led Carol into the bar, made sure lan didn’t see them, and then began to whisper.

“Hey, I’m also seeing someone behind his back. It’s not like we owe each other anything”

Carol burst into laughter and then hugged Maja.

“Right, how could I have forgotten you’ve been up to no good too? Come on. I’ve booked a private

room. I’ll show you what the high life really is tonight.”

The last time Carol said this, she booked the entire amusement park for Maja’s birthday.

Maja’s childhood was indeed tough. Things changed when Neil’s career took off, but Lillian died.

Neil started to be very busy, spending most of his time introducing Maja to clients or taking her to his

newly established office.

Back then, a group of middle–aged men would smoke and discuss the future, while she, a clueless kid,

just knew she had to behave herself and not cause any trouble.

Later, she started school and mostly chose boarding schools to lessen the burden on Neil.

Then, Neil married Cristina, and Maja’s relationship with her father became increasingly distant.

Neil used to take her to amusement parks. It was super crowded, and she would sit on Neil’s shoulders

and play all day.

But she didn’t know that Lillian was already very sick then. She was just holding on to fulfil her dream of

going to an amusement park.

Upon learning the truth, Maja felt guilty and barely wanted to go to amusement parks anymore. Up till

now, she’s only been twice.

Once with her family and another with Carol, two grown–ups playing games all day.

“Better save your energy. If you put this much effort into men, you might’ve changed boyfriends

hundreds of times already.”

Maja was teasing Carol as they walked.

Carol chuckled, “I’m not looking for a guy, nor am I head over heels for Felix. But I won’t disappoint you

tonight.”

When they arrived at the private room, she opened the door.

Inside sat a very handsome male star, the one Carol mentioned last time.

Maja paused, immediately understanding Carol’s intentions. She felt her scalp tingle and turned to

leave.

Carol stopped her.

“What are you doing? At least chat with him for a bit,” she whispered into Maja’s ear.

“I’ve checked him out for you, six–pack abs and clean as a whistle. If you like him, you can take him

home tonight.”

With that, Carol pushed Maja into the room, stuffing a fancy box into her hand, presumably a gift.

*Carol!”

Maja felt like a lamb being thrown to the wolves.

But the door was already closed, and Carol sent her a message.

“Don’t worry. He’s the spokesperson for our jewellery, of good character. A little chat won’t hurt. Didn’t

you say the guy you were seeing was too much for you? This guy is gentle. He’ll stop as soon as you

say so.”

Maja stood by the door, feeling so awkward that she was burning up.

She knew Carol was unreliable, but she didn’t expect her to be this unreliable.

The soundproofing in the private room was excellent. It was very quiet.

Maja couldn’t open the door, no matter what it was made of. She had to turn around and look at the

guy.

The guy was sitting quietly on the sofa. When he saw her coming over, he just nodded politely.

“Hello, I’m Shawn Walsh.”

Of course, Maja knew Shawn Walsh. He was a famous actor who had gained popularity in recent

years.

The fact that he could be the spokesperson for the Miller family’s jewellery indicated his high

commercial value.

Maja sat down awkwardly, “You can call me Penny.”

Shawn Walsh had a gentle look and smiled at her.

“Ms. Miller has told me everything. I’m willing, but it all depends on your decision, Miss Penny.”

Shawn Walsh was successful for a reason. He had very expressive eyes.

But his looks were delicate and refined, which was very different from lan’s cold exterior and tough

interior. novelbin

Jan’s face, when not smiling, would seem very cold, definitely not giving off a gentle vibe.

As Maja zoned out, Shawn Walsh had already moved closer to her.

“Penny, may I kiss you?”

Maja was not good at handling such situations. She stood up immediately, “I need to go to therestroom.”

She didn’t forget to take the gift from Carol.

She quickly walked to the door of the room and found that it could be opened now. She was relieved.

Thankfully, Carol didn’t go too far.

Maja hurried down the other end of the corridor as if being chased by a ghost. As a result, she ran into

a wall of people around the corner.

She fell back and landed on the ground. The box in her hand also fell, and the gift inside was

smashed.

A bunch of sex toys spilt out.

Maja frowned and looked up to see lan, Tyler Bennitt, and Fitch Haskins standing in front of her.
