Chapter 342

Chapter 342

They didn’t swap a single word during the drive. The car pulled up at the RosenGarden.

Just as Maja was about to get out, a thought made her stop, and she settled back into the car.

“lan, if Carlene attacks me again, can I count on you for backup?”

She asked this bluntly, without any hint of hesitation.

After all, her family was lower on the social ladder than the Shepard family, let alone the Raymond

family.

Carlene was his girlfriend, and with his influence, there was no telling what she could do in the future.

lan looked at her, silent for a few seconds before he asked, “Why do you think I’d take your side?”

“You wouldn’t be taking my side but the side of justice. I never try to provoke Ms. Shepard, but she

treats me like an enemy. We’ve never had a close relationship.”

As she finished her sentence, she felt his gaze turn icy.

She swallowed hard.

He leaned in slightly, looking into her eyes with a sarcastic tone, “How dare you say we don’t have a

close relationship.”

A blush crept up Maja’s cheeks, and her confidence faltered.

lan looked ahead, his fingertips lightly clutching the steering wheel.

“I’m helping you because we have a close relationship.”

Her heart skipped a beat, not believing that these words really came from him.

Maybe it was the enchanting night, but she found herself short of breath.

“Penny, if I treated you like I treat everyone else, you wouldn’t even get a glimpse of me.”

That was the harsh reality.

He wouldn’t be driving a woman home this late at night, let alone exchanging words with her.

Everything came down to the fact that they had a close relationship.

“Get out.”

Maja’s mind was a whirl of confusion, incapable of processing his words.

By the time she clumsily got out of the car, lan’s vehicle was already pulling away.

Maja stood there, smacking her forehead.

lan’s godlike face and words were undoubtedly enough to make anyone light–headed.

It wasn’t until she reached home and washed her face with cold water to shake off the lingering tension

that she managed to regain her novelbin

composure.

After taking a shower, she received a text from Carol Miller.

“What happened? I heard lan sent Dana abroad, and the Shepard family is in an uproar! Carlene even

pleaded for her, but now Dana’s on a plane and won’t be coming back to Greenfield ever!

Maja, do you think he finally saw the light? Is he going to break up with Carlene? Did he finally wise

up?!”

Maja found Carol’s texts amusing.

But she couldn’t tell Carol that she was involved in this too.

Carol continued.

“If there’s trouble in paradise between him and Carlene, this is your golden opportunity! You have no

idea how many people are asking about him and Carlene tonight. Carlene’s freaking out, she even

posted on Facebook that they’re still going strong.

Maja, listen to me. Go back to the Rosewood Manor now, put on a sexy outfit, and confess your

feelings when he comes back. With your beauty and body, lan wouldn’t stand a chance. Then Carlene

is out of the picture.”

Maja rubbed her temples and could feel Carol’s anxiety even through the phone.

“Carol, I’m a bit tired. I’ll rest for a bit.”

Thinking about the drama with the Pennyfeather family, Carol stopped joking around.

Once Maja laid down, she had a sound sleep.

But it wasn’t so peaceful for everyone else.

Especially at the Pennyfeather family.

Tricia Pennyfeather was hoping that Carlene and Maja would take each other out.

She had witnessed Dana trying to hurt Maja at the hospital earlier, thinking there would be a major

clash between Maja and the Shepard family.

But then this happened?

It seemed like lan was on Maja’s side?!

That was impossible!

Her eyes were red with envy. She just wanted to sit back and watch the drama unfold, but now she was

boiling with anger.

How could Maja be so lucky? Not only was lan her husband, but he also seemed to care about her.

This couldn’t continue.

She couldn’t let them go on like this!

Otherwise, she would truly be irrelevant!
