The door swung open just as Carlene was about to step out, catching sight of the flowers in his hands.
She excitedly took them.

She sniffed the flowers and immediately called Dana to fetch a vase.
Dana, a bit green with envy at seeing lan give Carlene flowers, hid her feelings and promptly got a vase
to put the roses in.
lan had purchased the flowers at a florist on the way without much thought, just wanting to bring a gift.
“Feeling better yet?”
Carlene’s injuries needed some serious hospital healing time.
But with lan firmly by her side, she felt over the moon even while being bedbound.
“I’m much better, the food the chef just brought was delicious. You’re always busy, yet still have time to
visit me.”
Her happiness was palpable as she said this. She looped her arm around his.
“I haven’t told my family about this yet, and I don’t want them to worry.”
lan gently removed her hand, “I’ve got a meeting soon. You rest up.”
Knowing how busy he was, Carlene sighed, “All right, come visit me after your meeting.“.
Just as she finished speaking, the hospital room door sounded.
Maja had arrived.
Maja, having just heard lan’s words, felt a bit uneasy. She needed to get discharged immediately to
check on what was happening at the Pennyfeather family company.
If Carter really messed up Pennyfeather’s company, she didn’t know if there was still a chance to save
it.
She couldn’t afford to linger at the hospital with Carlene.
Carlene was a bit surprised to see Maja, and she immediately put on a cold front.
“Oh, it’s you. Here to apologize?”
Maja’s apology was well thought out; with lan present, Carlene wouldn’t react violently, like slapping
her.
If lan had left and she came to apologize, that would be asking for trouble.
She hid her grievances behind a smile.
Carlene had discreetly dealt with the two bodyguards, who had been shipped out of the country,leaving no evidence.
All she could do was silently bear it.
“Ms. Shepard, I was in the wrong this time. I hope you can forgive me.”
Carlene had originally planned to seize this opportunity to harshly mock Maja, but she had the gall to
apologize while lan was present, leaving her unable to lash
out.
Even though Maja was the one apologizing, why did she feel even more wrong?

She took a deep breath and chuckled coldly, “Penny, you sure were wild when you were hitting me.”
Maja’s attitude was even more humble, “I was wrong. Please forgive me.”

Maja’s humility was really getting on Carlene’s nerves.

“I’m only letting this go because you’re lan’s designer, consider the consequences before you hit
someone next time.”
Maja lowered her head, giving a slight smile.
“Yes, you’re right.”

Carlene couldn’t nitpick any further. Seeing Maja just irritated her, so she waved her off.

in the hospital; I must return for a meeting.”
Carlene was not happy at all. Even though the problem seemed resolved, she didn’t gain anything.
