Chapter 319

Chapter 319

After ending her call with Carol, Maja dialed the hospital. The doc filled her in.

“Mr Pennyfeather seemed to be coming around last night, but he’s back to being stable today. We’re

still not sure when he’ll wake up.”

Hearing this, Maja hung her head, feeling a pang of pain. She had planned to head straight to the

hospital, but then Cristina Perkins rang her up.

“Your grandparents showed up at the Pennyfeather’s house. They heard about your dad and wanted to

see him.”

Hearing this, Maja went pale. Her grandparents lived in Crystalbrook Valley, and she’d avoided visiting

them the few times she’d been there. Mainly because after her mom gave birth to her, her

grandparents gave her the cold shoulder.

In Crystalbrook Valley, newlywed women usually live with their husband’s parents for a while.

But Neil, being the eldest son, had a younger brother. Her grandparents favored Neil’s brother, so Neilnovelbin

was always given the short end of the stick.

When Neil marned Lillian, they were given a run–down house the very next day. They didn’t even have

a meal on their wedding night and had to borrow some.

All because her grandparents couldn’t stand Lillian, who often got an earful when she was alive.

But when it came to Neil’s brother, her grandparents couldn’t spoil him enough.

Because of all this, Neil had taken Lillian to Greenfield early on, starting from scratch and gradually

building up his own company.

After Maja was born, her grandparents threw a fit when they found–out it was.a.girl. At the time, Neil

was still working in Greenfield, and only Daly Elston and Susan Elston were there with Lillian. So Lillian

had to endure the injustice.

Then Neil took Lillian and newborn Maja to Greenfield, cutting ties with his family back home.

Maja had always felt that, at least on this point, Neil did the right thing. Even before her mom passed

away, she never blamed Neil, just saying she had bad luck.

Now, her grandparents suddenly showed up in Greenfield, even going to the Pennyfeather’s house.

Maja had a bad feeling about this. After all these years, they had no idea about Neil’s situation; why

would they suddenly show up?

“Cristina, are you sure?”

Cristina shorted and handed the phone to an older man nearby.

This was Maja’s grandpa, Abram Pennyfeather.

“Maja, you folks sure know how to keep a secret. Making all this dough in Greenfield and not telling us

a thing. Neil is my son after all. How can I be the last one to know that you’ve been living in a mansion

and driving a car worth millions? You better get back here! Or else I’m going to raise some hell today!”

Hearing this, Maja suddenly felt a wave of annoyance.

“Maja, let me tell you, I’m your grandpa. I saw you being born, and now your dad is in trouble; our

family needs to sit down and have a good talk. Don’t think you guys can hog this mansion all to

yourselves. Your grandma and I have had a tough life, and you’ve never given us anything. I think Neil

ending up in the hospital i’s his karma for going too far!”

Abram Pennyfeather was getting more and more worked up. Looking around the lavish hall, his eyes

were filled with desire. He had no idea his eldest son’s achievements were so great after moving to

Greenfield.

They’d been kept in the dark all along. If someone hadn’t tipped them off, they’d still be clueless. He

was steaming mad!
