Chapter 1579

Zoey glanced in the direction where everyone was ogling and sure enough, there was Belinda.

Belinda stood before the magnificent champagne fountain, not exactly overweight, but rather

statuesque in her own right. Yet, next to the spry young waitstaff, she stood out like a sore thumb.

Her video had gone viral that day; anyone who followed trending topics would recognize her face.

But she showed no sign of embarrassment, her gaze flitting about the room as if searching for

someone.

Instinctively, Zoey thought Belinda was looking for her, and with a frown, she stepped back.novelbin

The next second, a man reeking of alcohol and shirtless burst out from a corner, causing a collective

gasp.

"Ah!"

"Someone get help!"

The drunken, half-naked man started causing a scene in the hall, now trying to embrace the younger

female guests, now rolling on the floor, making a complete fool of himself.

Security was quick to step in, aiming to toss the man out.

It was then that Zoey got a good look at him. The pot belly, the vacant eyes—it was her stepfather in

name only.

At that moment, Belinda stepped forward, holding his shirt, and hastily tried to cover him up.

"You damn fool, didn't I tell you not to drink at these sorts of events?"

"Put your shirt on, get it on now!"

The other guests murmured among themselves, wondering how these two had ended up at such a

posh gathering.

Belinda's gaze swept the room, finally landing on Fitch.

Wendy, standing beside Fitch, noticed that from the moment Belinda appeared, Fitch's complexion had

soured.

And when the shirtless man went on his drunken rampage, Fitch's mood darkened further.

This was, after all, an event hosted by the Haskins family, and it was clear that this was intended to

make them look bad.

Fitch's expression turned icy. "Who was in charge of vetting the staff tonight?"

Upon hearing this, Belinda approached with a beaming smile.

"Oh, my dear son-in-law of the Haskins family, what are you saying? I know you're dating Zoey, and we

decided to come and meet you after hearing about it. Sorry for not introducing ourselves earlier. I've

heard from Zoey that you two have been together for a while now. You're quite the catch, a perfect

match for her. I'm her mother, and this is her father. We came specially to congratulate you. I heard you

organized this party. You must be loaded."

As she said the word 'loaded,' a glint of greed passed through her eyes, and it was clear to all what she

was thinking.

The atmosphere became tense, with Belinda and her companion seeming out of place, though

completely unaware of it—especially with the man's shirt draped haphazardly, revealing his large belly.

The person responsible for the staff selection came forward, head bowed in embarrassment.

"Sir, she claimed to be your girlfriend's mother, so I just let her in."

Fitch's expression darkened further.

Wendy's lips curved into a smirk; it was all her doing, having let this odd pair through.

Only by having this couple embarrass themselves at a Haskins family event could she ensure that

Zoey and Fitch would never have a future together.

Sure enough, Mr. Haskins, supported by a group of people, made his way forward.

"Fitch."

He called Fitch's name.

Fitch became more respectful.

"Grandpa."

"Hello, hello! I'm Zoey's mother, and my daughter is dating your son." Updated at Draмаnоvеls.cоm

He only looked at Fitch and said, "Handle this yourself."

Then he was escorted away by other members of the Haskins family.

Whispers and glances landed on Zoey from time to time.
